Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Signings will be the focus at The Valley, but it seems prospect Reuben Gokah is heading out the exit door.

Writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon has said that Premier League side Everton have swooped for the Charlton Athletic talent.

Aged only 16, the Toffees view centre-back Gokah as a big talent for the future and have moved to secure his services early. A deal has been sorted and he seems poised to make the move to Bramley Moore Dock.

It is not said what sort of fee CAFC will be getting from the sale if they are to land one, but it will be expected that a sum is involved as they bid farewell to one of their brighter youth prodigies.

Think that only works if you have wingers who are effectively forwards to get beyond him. Otherwise that profile of player is better off as a 2nd striker, and we already have Ndiaye who can do that role.

On Chermitti, think he needs a loan at a good level imo. Championship / Erevidese / Ligue 1 maybe.

Oh yeah it involves pace around him. I just prefer the profile rather than spending £30-40mill on some 6ft 22 year old as a number 9. We have Beto for that.

Reason I pointed out Chermiti is the same thing could happen in terms of waiting for him to develop. The reason why Chermiti gets given slack is because he's cheap and has time.

We fork out a big chunk for a similar profile, they really have to find their footing quick.

Liam Delap was a similar type of profile.

I want Grealish just to see the huge divide in here before he plays 🤣

I’m of the opinion a lot of fans would be eating their words as I think he’d be brilliant for us the way Moyes sets up and my opinion is if Moyes wants him, his mentality and desire will be right
Are there similarities between Grealish and Pienaar in the way they play? If so I can see why Moyes would be keen to bring him in.
On loan, no brainer.

I think at City he has also adapted his game a lot to shield the ball and draw fouls in key areas for dangerous set pieces. Imagine our CBs constantly bombarding the opposition box most of the game. Probably a similar correlation to Pienaars first season and the increased goal tally of Lescott and Yobo.

Cant ignore defence. Have to build on the strong foundation.

Ive been posting about him for 2 years. He moved for a bargain fee last summer though we should still be able to get both him and Diarra for under £40mil.

Im not fussed on the AFCON as 'big picture' we're building for the long term (hopefully).

Looking at a minimum of £50m for the 2 - which I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to if they were going to make a massive difference and we could get other offensive players on loans etc

I know many are talking about Diarra after watching Senegal tonight and we’ve been linked, played well, but I was actually more impressed with Lamine Camara in midfield.
Both were excellent, I've seen both mentioned here several times.
If they hang fire until next years world cup, they can probably have there pick of clubs, they could probably have there pick now.

Ndiaye looked great on the right yesterday.
A version of grealish that needs to impress for the World Cup would instantly elevate our team.
McAtee is exactly the type of signing we need.

Grealish——- McAtee——-Ndiaye
Yeah, but he was playing against an absolute garbage national team that hasn’t won anything in 100 years. Hardly a measuring stick.

Football Insider say that Grealish is on £350,000 a week. That seems incredulous to me.

Even if he does favour a move here, it requires City to be generous in covering a portion of his wages and with any loan fee upfront.

It seems barely doable if they want to do a deal. It would be a very expensive loan - £5/6m in wages from us plus something similar as a loan fee I'd imagine.

Effectively we would be paying 2/3 if his wages if the figures were correct.

Thats a big layout for a seasons loan assuming no way that expense can be offset as with amortisation for PSR purposes.

I'd have concerns over his level of motivation and hunger but even outside of that it seems a very costly deal. City are hardly going to just going to make it easy.

it’s ok mate it’s trash talk him to us

Moyes has already played McNeil right wing a few times, he might do that with Grealish on the left and move Ndiaye centrally.

Ultimately, we need options so there’s no point crying about where Jack Grealish could potentially play.
