The lack of a right back signing has to be deliberate although it doesn’t appear logical.
I can only assume Moyes is happy with Coleman and O’Brien with Garner providing additional cover.
We’ve missed out on a few potential targets, even today Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Juventus for RB Nicolo Savona.
They are paying €15m for the 22 year old.
It can only be that we want a different profile RB and either there isnt one available or the fee would be too high this summer.
I'm a bit confused why we havent at least signed a top prospect (at least for the u21s) who could replace Coleman on the bench next season perhaps.
He did or the club did? He didn’t seem to have a clue about a player we’ve been in intense negotiations with for for six weeks and spent close to a club record on. “We’ll try and give him a few minutes and see what he’s all about and what he might offer us”
His comments once Anzou signed were weird as well. Cant remember about Barry.
Contrast with
KDH and
Grealish who he was salivating over.
Except this time we’ve also brought in Dibling, Grealish and KDH. Would’ve been impossible under the old regime. Soucek proves nobody spot in, unless they are the sort to disregard all evidence contrary to their view and then still claim to be right.
Soucek would be part of a mix. On higher wages, probably, but one purchase like that does NOT signal a return to the Moshiri era mindset. Honestly I think some of us have been permanently scarred by the last few years. Unable to see that we are in a different place right now.
I’m not saying I’d be all over him, but the attitude displayed by some at the prospect of his arrival is more akin to PTSD than it is common sense.
As i posted a couple of hours ago, if were rebuilding then fast forward to next summer and the likely squad going into the window.
Soucek wouldnt be close to our 11 and perhaps not even 2nd choice.
Would be absolutely ridiculous to not bring a right back in tbh. I would have been ok with Walker or Walker Peters, what on earth was the plan?
Walker Peters I think would have been a poor move. Not good enough and would be on a few years contract.
Walker for a season may have added experience but perhaps
Moyes felt that
O'Brien would benefit more from the games.
If we werent going to sign someone to slot in short-term then i find it a bit odd we didnt go for a top 17-19 year old to develop over the season and ready for next year.
