Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We’d all like to sign another Cahill.

The list of those that have proven to be enough of a success at Everton to warrant this being a winning strategy isn’t massive, though, is it?
Well if you want a recent case study look at Crystal Palace, Eze, Wharton and Olise just off the top of my head in recent years. All brilliant players, a trophy in the cabinet and massive fees for two of them so far with Wharton probably a year or two from the same.

No transfer strategy is without its risks but the Championship I think is one of the best proving grounds you could ask for.

I was referring to Everton’s history - as were you in part.

What brilliant players have we had from that league beyond Cahill?

The thing with Giulia though is that she just repeats what the club tells her - like the fact we have walked away from Dibling. Which Bobble was adamant we hadn't. And he also said way in advance of the war of words in the media that both sides would be using briefings in the press to advance their cause.

Bobble's very reliable mate. The most reliable really. I think people let the fact they really don't like him and Benj, for whatever reason, cloud their perception of his accuracy.

Yeah, she does get briefed by the club but so does joyce. Thats why their reliable.

with regards to the dibling transfer we had walked away from the deal and it was Southampton who brought us back to the table. Hence why we ended up paying £35m for him because them bringing us back to negotiate weakened their bargaining position.

I personally think his reliability has been very suspect this summer. The amount of "insider information" he's tweeted that come 3-4 minutes just after another source has already posted it is a massive red flag to me.

I dont know the guy personally so i cant make a judgement on him as a person. My issue has always been his business model now revolves around people paying him money to tell them itk information. Which means he's now incentivised to make up information for the podcast. Which makes him unreliable imo unfortunately.

I very clearly referred to both Everton’s history of buying from that league as well as other clubs who have had plenty of recent success.

Joleon Lescott would be another example, excellent player for us (up until he downed tools) and we received an enormous fee for him.

Woltemade fee has me feeling about our Barry purchase the same way the Sesko fee did. Is he a bit better than Barry? Probably. Is he THREE TIMES THE PRICE better?!

Still think that was a fantastic bit of early business by the club to get sorted.
Woltemade does look very good to be fair.

I think prices get exponentially bigger as the talent gets rarer - just economics and scarcity.
