I do wonder if we had a strategy to bring in the sort of technical players that we have, as opposed to quicker, more physical types. Or if the problems we had signing players has just dictated it.

We have a fair few socks down, stand with the ball, possession heavy players, but that’s never really been Moyes’ game.
But Osman, Arteta and Pienaar had virtually no pace whatsoever and used to drift around the half spaces with excellent close control, buying fouls. They used to go past people with tight control, not acceleration. So I think he has previous. Even though these three are more overtly skilful. Where we might have a slight problem is the lack of proper overlapping full backs. But we'll see. I would like one speed merchant to bolster the attacking lines (winger or striker) if I was being greedy. But we need to prioritise a 6 and an RB.

I think with the profile of attackers we have behind the striker now, who want to come inside and link up instead of cross, we need a striker that can do that sort of thing as well. More a David Villa or Julian Alvarez type than anything else.
I've been saying for a while now but we have that player in Ndiaye. The way he can hold the ball up and also turn and take 2-3 players out the game.

With Grealish, Alcaraz and Dibling in behind playing very fluid I think that front four is going to catch a lot of teams out.

I honestly think this squad with a prime Leighton Baines and prime Coleman would be a top 6 side.

I just don’t know if Ndiaye’s finishing or instinct is enough up front. He often dribbles when he should shoot.

He’s an absolutely quality footballer and I love watching him play, but he’s 5’11” and 11 stone. He’s gonna get beat up trying to play up top on his own in a Moyse side, unless we dramatically change the way we play
