It’s nothing to do with the structure and more to do with a reluctance to reach into their pockets.

You can have a transfer committee, executive scouts, a director of football and a team of independent data analysts, but it’s not going to do much if they won’t stump up the asking price for players!

I love football and watch a lot of the Championship and enough of the prem but can barely watch Everton as it so hard to stay impartial and it seems like every week is a kick in the teeth. I have seen the great teams of the 70s and 80s as a season ticket holder so I feel your pain. Everton growing up was part of the family it united us all and gave us pride now its like having a family member on skid row doing drugs that you can't help but love but find it incredibly painful to watch.i hope i am not being to dramatic but it feels mentally and emotionally painful to watch them.

I think your analogy is perfect...like having a family member in crisis. You still love them but cant see how it turns out good

But your analogy couldn’t sum up how I feel about us better. Obviously there's several gaps in positions we need to get resolved as soon as possible but even one major signing arriving before the end of the week , alleviates a degree of the tension. Whatever needs to happen negotiation wise needs to reach the culmination point on at least one deal

What will alleviate the tension for me is a good performance and result on the field on Sunday. Obviously a few good signings will take that relief to optimism. Another crap performance , at home with hardly at shot at goal, will not be relieved by a Josh Brownhillesque signing next week
