Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I still think we’ll be fine you know. Getting 4-5 players in before deadline seems quite likely to me - we’ve often seen 3-4 on deadline day alone in previous windows, even without the cash that we seem to have available to us this year.

I also still think that the sheer volume of change, both in playing and back room staff that has been required has made it an extremely difficult ask to get everything we need done completed before that start of the season. Does that make these first few games rubbish? Yes, for sure. Is it immensely frustrating for us as supporters? Again, yes absolutely. But once this summer of frustration is over and we are thoroughly reset, I still firmly believe that we will come out the other side stronger and, with far less to do in future windows, will be much better placed to continue building towards a better future.

Might be wrong like, but I’ve not yet seen anything to overly surprise me or worry me unduly. We’re still back! It’s just going to take time.
I agree, but my constant frustration with everton is we do this every season - we sack off the first few games of the season because we can't get a decent enough team together to win/even see out a draw.

I can see us picking up 2-3 loans by the end, I wouldn't count out a Lyon player or two, I would put money on Everton not signing a RW but signing another LW.

If I were the transfer committee, I'd get Brownhill in (not flashy, not brilliant, but not bad either) - a necessary body in that team. I'd also see if we could get Dan Neil from Sunderland (he's going overlooked and this will also [Poor language removed] the fanbase, but he's a decent player). If try for Maitland-Niles - to cap off the trip of mediocre but 'does a job' players and then I'd pay the Dibling fee because he goes to Palace.

So are we now perhaps pondering the idea that our esteemed recruitment team aren’t actually working to a long term plan and might in fact just be flailing around without a clue what they’re doing?
Grealish was clearly a Moyes buy, you only have to look at his Grealish praise quotes from the past to know that

Glad I read this buddy. Everton have done my head in all day.
I needed this positivity.
COYB.

Think we need a starting number 6, starting right winger for sure.

we also need a potential starting right back, a backup right winger who can push the starter and arguably a striker.

In the ideal world, i think we should be looking at Dibling and Fellows as Right Wing options.

For right back, i like Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo. he can play RB, RW and even centre back. rumours in january were that villa and West ham were in for him and they wanted £20m. considering his versatility, i think it’s a good buy at that price.

For number 6, we have been linked with Florentino from Benfica and looking at a few write ups on him at the time he seems to be ideal. touch tackling and good positioning to sense danger and quick too.

lastly, i think we need to go big for an out of the box striking option. if it were me, i would be going back for Vlahovic and offering him the chance to show his stuff in the PL given bigger teams haven’t come calling. Pay him what he wants even if it’s supposed to be £150,000 a week. if he scores like he can then that will pay for itself.

Oh god are we still doing the round the table letting people take turns picking their own signings thing? A trademark of the Moshiri days?

Got to be honest MK, the longer this conversation goes on the less and less convinced I am in our revered recruitment team and their grand long term master plan.

Thelwell bought Patterson because he's a wing back and Thelwell and Lampard ultimately were going to start us using that system in time (Lampard being out of his depth put the kibosh on that idea)

Even if this is true, the fact that he has always been nothing other than absolutely crap should have prevented us from going anywhere near him. But the logic being employed was ‘he’s one for the future, and that one day he might stop being utter horse dung’.

This is where ‘building for the future’ often gets you, investing in a tomorrow that never comes!
