I don't disagree. JOB is Moyes's first-choice RB since taking over, and Keane - like it or not - is the first CB cab off the rank to cover injuries at the moment (to be fair he was fine last night btw).
Those two choices were because Aznou either isn't deemed good/ready enough or is injured. If it's the latter then I guess that's just terrible luck and we roll with it; otherwise we need to get back in the market because we can't risk that kind of reshuffle having to happen again.
There's an argument that KDH could have started in CM and either Grealish at 10 from the start, or McNeil starts and Charly goes central. Personally I don't hate either option, but our manager is David Moyes. That was never going to happen.
Forwards got a lot of stick for barely being involved last night but that, in my opinion, was down to midfielders not progressing the ball a) quickly enough and b) forwards.
Look at the move early-ish doors second half where the ball went into Illy in the centre circle and he did a boss little flick to send KDH away. That happens more consistently and all of a sudden Leeds are 5-10 yards closer to their goal and we're turning the screw.
My kneejerk reaction to that game was to put CM as second priority, behind RW.

I've been banging this drum all summer. Our midfield is soooo bad. I love Gana but the wheels have got to fall off that wagon at some point, especially if he's carrying the whole thing on his back. And he was never particularly great on the ball at some point. The fact that arguably Sunderland have a better and more well-rounded prem-level CM pairing is hilarious.
We went hard and early for striker. Then we've had 5 or 6 (?) RW targets that we've at least tried to get. The grand sum of CM activity has been...seeing if Luiz will come on loan?

Together with the Aznou ommission and the really weird starting lineup & tactics that he failed to address during a first half where clearly things weren't working, Moyes really screwed the pooch. He can have absolutely no excuses and, indeed, he didnt make any..

A prope CM changes everything for team, he speeds the game up when necessary and slows it down if unde the cosh. He also decides what side we attack on.
Even our passes are slow they are rolled into each other not pinged.

By necessity tbf. On a generally sad footy night, not much made me sadder than when Grealish showed his dancing feet, wriggled away from 2-3 players, fizzed a ball into Beto and it just bounced off him and set up a Leeds counter.
Gutted we missed out on Douglas Luiz but hopeful that, if we were in for him in the first place, there'll be a CM in at some point.

It won't be all that melodramatic if our squad is weaker than it has been in recent years and the promoted teams aren't as gash as they have been over the last couple of years.
I'm not pining for the return of a 50 year old Ashley Young, but if he was present last night then we would have had an actual LB playing LB, and we wouldn't have had to deprive ourselves of Garner in CM. At present, we become utterly screwed just through an injury to Mykolenko, and he's starting to get injuries frequently.
Doucoure was actually capable of pressing as a number 10, something none of our current 'number 10's' are capable of. It makes a difference.
