Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think all of our expectations were perhaps heightened by Moyes and Kinnear saying how this window’s unprecedented and how there’ll be so much change. So far we’ve brought in 2 (arguably 3 including Barry) players to improve the starting XI. Don’t get me wrong the Grealish loan is impressive and I’m very excited to see him play for us but I’d love to see TFG go all out for a top RW and a RB in the next few weeks rather than just making do with a sub par bargain basement option.

Grealish and KDH aside it's been a very mediocre window. The right side should have been dealt with as a priority. It probably was but the way its been handled is far from ideal. The end of this window and the next will undoubtedly define our season. If we go with what we have and avoid any major injuries (which is highly doubful) then we must expect some pain this season and that pain could well start tonight.
This is exactly the issue, only two new first team players despite all the hubbub, but saying that gets people called a "bedwetter" or a "wetwipe". Someone will be along shortly to pretend that signing the young fullback and two reserve goalkeepers means we have a "much better squad" than last season, or that "I think Barry will surprise a few, yanno". But the actual reality is that nine of our first eleven are exactly the same as last season and we now have fewer options down our right side than we had last year.

Kinnear has two weeks to bring in a minimum of two new first teamers otherwise this window will have been a failure, imo. For the record, I think we'll sign a first choice RW and then pad out the squad with loans and freebies. If that happens we'll be very short again once injuries start to bite. We're already likely to play one or both of Keane and Patterson tonight.

I also think this has an effect on not just transfers but the players' confidence levels in general, who also start to mirror Moyes in thinking what games they do/don't have a chance of winning in.

contrast this with other managers like Thomas Frank or plenty of others. Moyes will never get another top job for this reason
He's been like a wet blanket pulled across the club.

  • slow transfer whingeing
  • throwing new players under the bus
  • complaining about the bounce of the ball on the new pitch
  • telling the media the new stadium will be a problem for our chances this season
  • moaning about 'leaks'

The feller's lucky to be here.

If they do end up lashing out a big fee on Dibling then I wouldn't have much expectation that there would be a lot of spending legroom left to do much else to be honest.

RW permanent + a couple on loan - if we could get 3 - RB DM F - then that would be great.

We need another 4 minimum, and that might be a stretch.

Still think that someone like Franculino Dju that we were linked with who plays up front might be an option to play on the right if need be and coming from the Danish League would be more affordable.

That's the sort of approach we'll have to take. If we don't sign Dibling then we could probably get Dju + Florentino Luis for DM for roughly what Dibling would cost.

I'm also disappointed with progress so far and the summer has been marked by a lack of sharpness and decisiveness. Being decisive on your top targets only works if you sign them.

We'll just have to see. Thank God not long to wait, personally I find this transfer window like all others to have been an interminable bore fest. We'll end up short somewhere no doubt.

Leeds are clear favourites to win tonight.
Brighton are clear favourites to win on Sunday.
Why? - because we have a very weak right flank that offers nothing in attack, nothing in defence and has zero pace.

It’s a genuine shame that the club hasn’t fixed these well known issues in the transfer market.
It could be the difference between finishing 17th and 10th.

Leeds are clear favourites tonight? A newly promoted team? Get real you cry arse.

This is a bit much, we still have some good players
