Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Personally think their model works perfectly for clubs like them and Brentford, every year people lump those teams into a relegation battle and yet every year they are well clear and comfortable. Suspect all of the replacements for those players and been meticulously scouted years in advance with the plan of selling this year. Next year they’ll probably bring in another £150m for Semenyo, Kluivert, Scott etc and bring in the next batch of replacements. I don’t think Bournemouth will be in any trouble for the foreseeable future.

I think Bournemouth as we may find with Brentford this season have been dependant on having a very very high quality manager there enabling the policy to work.

Remove that manager and you're left with a huge variable unknown.

I think you'd have to default to that view yes but a lot of clubs still looking to do a lot of business. Clubs outside the Top 6/7 have been more restricted then usual even.

If the view is that we need another 4 in then we can't leave that to the final day. That would just be indicative of whatever "plans' they had bring thrown out of the window, pardon the pun.

Unfortunately I think it's almost guaranteed that we'll end up short somewhere but there can be no excuses if we fail to add at RW,RB, and CM.

I'd be happy if we got those three positions filled. A striker on loan perhaps if at all.

I'm wary that they can get another 4 in though.

Let's be honest though, 4 in - not counting fat third keepers, is the absolute bare minimum needed to have a functioning squad. And only if those four are of good standard also.

No areas of the squad do I look at and think we are remotely sorted long term or even medium.

We have managed expectations downwards as the summer progresses, a lot are complaining about spending up to 50m on Dibling - currently we have spent a grand total of around 60-64m this summer, which in the scheme of things is absolutely nothing. And most definitely not what we need to be spending with the state of the squad.

I'll go as far as saying if we sign Dibling then try to patch up the rest with loans then it's underwhelming. As come next summer we will be in almost the exact same position of needing a major rebuild again.

Nothing now will be done until the last few days of the window when the cub will be looking to do desperate deals for bargain basement signings and loans.

How did an unprecedented summer end up with this failure?

New owners, new stadium, new opportunity. Wasted.
I'm not going to lie; the last couple of days have been disappointing.

A 15 year old and a third choice goalkeeper and not a peep with regard to a RB and a RW.

Yeah
You might be made up that a player acts dishonestly to join Everton but in two years time when he does the same to us to force a move to Chelsea you would be less enamoured with his lack of integrity.
If you sign a contract you do your best to honour it , a contract is a physical representation of your word , and without your word you are nothing.
If Chelsea came in for are player at the moment and turned their heads i might not like it but would expect it,
just like if real Madrid came in for one of theirs.
How many times does a club give its word to a player and break it,
here's a four year contract , play here, move your family into a new area everything will be great.
The club want a better player , and Their binned?
If you think there is some sort of honour in football these days you are going to feel very disappointed very quickly.
I don't get emotionally attached to any players even are own ones, never mind anyone
like me and you if a better opportunity came along wouldn't you take it.
when you sign a contract with your employer your giving your word to honour that, doesn't mean they own you for life.

Is he that much worse than Dibling?

I ask as someone who doesn’t recall watching a second of either player last year.
If both deals go through lets see at the end of the season who got the better deal , Forest are set up better than Ipswich Better players , faster on the break better manager but time will tell

It’s not just football , it’s life in general , if you agree to and sign a contract or give your word, you do your best to honour it .
If you don’t , you are clearly someone who cannot be trusted and therefore best avoided generally.
It’s basic decency really .

Its insane how it's gone. We need to really ramp up our scouting network and start to concentrate on bringing in youth.
Absolutely. Understand that we probably don't have the biggest reach of all 4 North West clubs and second in the city but that's no excuse. Just cos its difficult doesn't mean we should settle for mediocrity. Theres a motto in there somewhere.

Pretty sure NDiaye did as were being pedantic.
Wasn't really being pedantic I was being factual. The point was about not needing premier league experience and being bought from abroad. Both O'Brien and Ndiaye bought from France and never played in the premier league.

What's pedantic about that, two of your three examples used actually worked in favour of the other persons point.

Fair point about Ndiaye, he had played once for 11 minutes in this league 4 years earlier.

I'm wary that they can get another 4 in though.

They can if there is a will to spend cash on some much needed quality.

I dont think there is though.

We've been let down badly.

In general life i agree if you give your word stick to it.
I am a stickler for it plays on my mind if I cant do something I have promised to someone.
But realistically how many do?
I see it every day in work more and more just look after themselves
Got that way I don't interact with most other than to be polite.
It seems its the way of the world these days.

Have a great day.
