If we are not wanting to pay 40m+ for Dibling I doubt we will be willing to pay more next season seeing as prices seem to be getting more ridiculous year on year. He’d have to have a real turd of a season for his stock to depreciate.

Buying young English talent always has this massive premium attached. If we have to overpay for Dibling so be it.

Hammond and the scouts need to make up for it by signing some Brazilian wonderkid for a couple of million who happens to turn into the next Kaka.

The difficulty we face now, of course is if we want him and don’t want to risk a more attractive club coming in for him then yes increase the bid but longer term it shows other selling clubs to us that they can hold out and we potentially cave. It’s a tricky one. In my opinion we should just walk away given it’s a massive outlay for potential.
