The release clause was at first £40 million, we bid £35 million. Soton said no.

The release then went to £45 million, we bid £35 million plus £8 million add ons. Soton said no.

The release then went to £50 million plus 25% of any profit on a future sale.

Yes, it’s called negotiations. It’s why clubs enquire about a price and then work from there.
