Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Looks like Moyes' "I'd like to be able to parade a few of them (signings made this week) at the Roma game" sadly won't come true. I hope this at least means we ultimately end up with more first choice players and that it's just taking way longer than they imagined. Disaster if we've been trying for so long and fail, leaving us scratching around for replacements last minute.

Season doesn't start till September 2nd.

We have plenty of time to get people to fill the subs bench.

Correct - plenty of time to bulk out the squad.

The immediate priority for the next few days has to be the 2 to 3 required signings for the first XI, including the ‘known’ problem of RB and RW.

O’Brien is good cover at RB but we need more - can’t rely on Patterson or Coleman.

Interesting August to come.

Can't remember a season where so many of the sides need to still do so much and so many players everyone knows are gonna be moving on this summer are still stuck at their parents clubs waiting for offers to come in.

Just wondering how long before the likes of Villa, Forest, Palace, West Ham and a good few others actually start doing deals.

Also interesting how long until the likes of Elliot, Ramsay, Doak, Hutchison, Garnacho Mcatee, Grealish, Luiz, Richy, and loads more players that are clearly moving sides this summer start getting moves

Yeah clearly it's not just us - although so many personnel changes obvs don't help - but as someone else noted earlier maybe it's PSR making everyone bar the richest a lot more cagey

How much were we prepared to spend on our first choice?? Seems a lot of money for someone who isn't at the top of our list.
Maybe the top 3/4 don’t have much between them in terms of prioritisation. We obviously have had a list, but just because he may be 4th choice, doesn’t mean that there is a huge drop off from the 1st choice to him.

It looks to me like we have set a budget for the position and have clearly been priced out of the likes of kubo etc, and that’s why it’s struggling with dibling because that’s pushing the same amount now.

But they also now have a more urgent need to get it done so budget likely gets stretched.

Antonio... really?!
i didnt realize he has been playing for Jamaica and West Ham U21's recently. So dont put it past Moyesie hahaha. If we need a stop gap 3rd choice striker for 1 year to see how Chermiti develops then it will be an ageing player like him. Like i posted before if we do bring in 2 quality wingers like Grealish and Dibling i can see Moyes use N'Diaye as a central striker if needed.

Listented to the Everton bit of the Times podcast with Joyce that he just tweeted out. He is of the opinion that it is unlikely Everton go after Dibling any further because they can't afford to go any higher and Southampton won't go any lower, while Grealish seems really difficult and there's no guarantee he would even want to move to Everton. He also didn't put forward any alternatives for those or any other positions.

I'm loathe to put too much stock into any one journalist's views, but jeez. Another week down, and where are we?

Is the fofana deal just dead in the water now? Or is our offer still there and he is still waiting for this mythical champions league club that hasn’t come in for him?

This was always going to be the issue - we’ve exhausted most of our options and Dibling/Grealish deals look increasingly unlikely.

I can see a wave of lower level players and loans later in the window as clubs finalise squads - this will be our next chance.

I listened to it, i will say i don't think Joyce is actually in the loop that much now BK has gone?

has he broken any exclusives this summer?
Best he's managed is speculative "Everton have an interest in Tyler Dibling/Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall" about a week before actual bids have landed. He's clearly still got some connections, but I think the club is far more of a closed shop now.

I also think in the Dibling case, local journalists are being fed very specific info on both sides as the PR war part of the deal goes forward. Only so much stock you can take in any of that stuff, but still. At this stage the Leeds game is probably a write off in terms of a RW/RB/Grealish/other CM, which isn't the end of the world. The Brighton game, on the other hand...

Get him and Vardy on really short term deals.
