Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I just hope we don't start to panic buy.

It feels like, with the new owners and restructuring of the debt plus the sale of the women's team and Goodison. All one time financial events. We've created an opportunity to spend a decent amount of money.

Moyes is obviously trying to ramp up the pressure on Hammond, Howarth and Kinnear. But possibly the two key appointments in Nick Cox (Technical Director) and James Smith (Director of Scouting and Recruitment) aren't even through the door yet.

Last thing we want is a repeat of blowing millions (on fees and/or wages) on sub-standard players. We made that mistake once under Moshiri and it ended in relegation battles rather than european qualification and challenging for trophies.

This thread is crazy. One month ago we had a bunch of lads tying themselves up in knots trying to convince themselves that re-signing Michael Keane was a good move. Fast forward a month and we've basically got the same thing for Josh Brownhill.

Elite players for an elite stadium.

We dont have unlimited money to spend, we also have a very small squad so every player we sign isnt going to be one that we are all happy with but some good players some squad fillers. Then each transfer window improve on the lesser players with better ones in order to continuously improve.

We all have a basic enough grasp of football to be able to point out little things that make that player good in your eyes though. I'm not expecting a detailed scout report.

Thanks for clarifying, not sure why you couldn't just say that before in regards to what you think is good about him. I still question the goal return because he only scored 6 in 100 PL appearances.

I don't want Garner or Iroegbunam to be starters. I'm quite happy for Garner to be a bench option for us and think he'd be a better creative outlet if pushed a tad further up the pitch which is where he was best for Forest in the Championship, but with us he's been made to play deeper. I also think his versatility in being able to play RWB if needed is useful because he has a good engine. Timmy, is a puzziling one. I think technically he's good and he's a good ball carrier but doesn't seem to know what his best position is or able to engage his brain to his feet at times. I think he needs to refine his football IQ quite a lot. I'd be fine with him going on loan and keeping Armstrong if we signed two more midfielders.
As I said, it just seems a bit unfair as you could do the same for any player. 'I just think he's a decent player' is a perfectly valid response for me, particularly for someone like Brownhill who isn't massively eyecatching.

Moyes has changed the narrative.

We now need warm bodies to fill the squad and avoid relegation.

Signing, and re-signing, bad players doesn't result in continuous improvement. It results, at best, in stagnation and at worst in decline.

For ages I have despised the Echo site for it's constant anti Everton bias. Foolishly I imagined they employed journalists who enjoyed the negativity on Everton. Then someone interpreted a phrase for me which I had never understood. He said the advertisers who pay money to such as the Echo, encourage "clickbait" which, using an outrageous or inaccurate headline causes twerps like me to click on the subject and get exposed to their adverts. Well, well. I still hate the Echo.

As of right now James Garner is a starter and Tim Iroegbunam is first off the bench and a starter if anyone is injured or suspended.

We need multiple midfielders.
