Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We just missed out on Tete who would have been better. We have no idea who we will sign, it is defo not worth getting upset about.
Yep, we missed out. I hope we do sign a new RB, for the record I think we will. I don't think it's guaranteed, however, as history shows us and I have no idea if we will get anyone decent as it doesn't seem to be a priority area given that we're sniffing around free agents. Let's ignore all that though and assume it will all be brilliant. Am I doing it right now?

If he wants to come here, he does it our way or he can stay there and sit on the bench for two years.

The New, Improved, Ruthless Everton.

This is how we have to be going forward.
If he comes here I doubt he’d send much time on the bench. He’s a dream player for a manager.

Also, he has a strong relationship with Moyes. I doubt there would be much “it’s our way or the highway pal.” He will know exactly what the standards will be and what will be expected of him.

Just look up his record at West Ham. He’s been player of the year there ahead of Rice, helped them win a first trophy in decades, is always reliable. That’s why I’m kind of suspicious that this isn’t just a load of cobblers.

If we sign those two old men from west ham we may as well raise the white flag. Coufal and soucek, meanwhile clubs below us buying kudos and Gibbs white.

Elite players for an elite stadium Moyes said
But that was his message to the board and owners, not to the fans. He didn’t say “we’re deffo signing elite players” it was more along the lines of “we need elite players for an elite stadium” whilst he was looking up at the directors box.

We probably are/have looked at ‘elite’ players and we haven’t gotten past their agents who don’t wanna send their players to Everton, who let’s face it are not a prime destination at the moment. Therefore we have to go down to option B and C, possibly even D.

If it’s still like this in 3-4 years time, then TFG will be rightly called out.

His contract is running down and he wants another, but they don’t want to give him one due to age and the fact he a a bit of a spare part for Potter. That said, last season he was a key player for them even as Potter tried to move away from their old style.

If Potter gets it wrong (he seems to see Soucek as expendable as he wants to build his style of a squad) they could really struggle. They struggled to get goals yet he chipped in with 10 across all competitions.

So why should we give him a contract mate?

We should be looking to get younger players in with potential resale value who are quicker and more agile .

It feels like we are in a constant state of purgatory. People mention us being competitive or “we will be fine”. What does that entail exactly in the grand scheme of things.

I know it’s difficult given what has gone on, it’s why we need to be smart with who we do actually bring in.

Too many times in the past it’s a case of “he will do for a year or two “. It’s proven time and again it has got us no where the majority of the time.

It causes boredom and cynicism in the fan base.

Not bad!

Soucek is very influential, i think a lot of lads have said the same here, WHU wont let him go easy if it at all, the link i think is largely rubbish because no way are they stupid enough to sell him for 12 mill.

Judging by some of the comments, i think many are going to be disappointed with this window.

I think this window is going to be about judging recruitment as a package as opposed to isolation on the merits of one single player at a time, because there are going to be mixture of exciting prospects, functional players and absolute Ashley Youngs compromise needs must types - in the overall package. I wont be getting stressed by any of it isolation as expecting each.

It’s about squad quality progression. If we can give Moyes a squad that’s stronger overall than the one he finished last season with then you hope that translates into improved league position and therefore finances for the club. You then look to improve every window thereafter. That might mean there’s a few players everyone in there might not love but if they’re better than their counterparts last season then it’s a step in the right direction. Everyone obviously wants to take the biggest one possible but that’s not always possible in every position given the budget we have.

Newcastle bought in Wood, Matt Targett, Trippier, Dan Burn, Pope in their early windows alongside the big ticket items like Guimaraes and Isak. None of those names are particularly exciting but they all raised the quality of the squad at the time. They also made very good use of Willock Schar Murphy Joelinton and Almiron who weren’t flash names but were in the squad already.

A lot of what Moyes has to do will be similar. Turn around players already in the squad: he’s revitalised Beto and O’Brien, perhaps he thinks he can get much more from Patterson and Iroegbunam? Bring through youth: perhaps he wants to keep pathways in the team for Armstrong Chermiti and Heath?. Add in some solid squad players to the mix, and then find the difference maker signings (e.g realistically what Barry needs to be)

I'm not sure quite what I expect of TFG, other than steady and sustainable progress.

If we're in the market for elite players in this timeframe, we'll have been in the Champions League at least once.

We should aim high for sure. If this comes to pass, we'll have a Dan Friedkin stand at Hill Dickinson.
