McAtee I think is much more of a risk quality-wise - he was rubbish at Sheffield

yea, at Sheffield he simply didn't have quality players around him like at man city so this begs the question of whether he can carry a team.

after Cole Palmer, teams would also be overpaying in the hope of getting the next Palmer.

dun get me wrong, he would be a great addition at the right price tho.

….have to say, at this stage I’m quite chilled about the ins and outs.

The new regime appear to have clear and strict criteria regarding the offer of new contracts to existing players, they won’t be held to ransom which is welcome. Gueye was important to get over the line, Keane was pragmatic and Branthwaite’s new deal most welcome.

The acquisition of Barry immediately makes us a stronger attacking force than last season. Defensively, if everybody is fit we’re as strong as last season, we’ll be better than last time with an effective RB coming in.

Harrison and Lindstrom exchanged places throughout the season, neither pulling up trees. McNeil was injured for a large part, his availability makes us stronger but if we bring an effective winger we’ll be even better. The one area I have a slight concern about is losing Doucoure’s energy in that hybrid no 10 role.

So, I already think we’re at least slightly better than last season but I’m sure we’ll get 3 quality individuals in (RB, CM & winger) to properly push us on as well as utilising the loan system to bolster the squad with a few more.

I’m certain there’s lots going on behind the scenes.

I know, but it's just one of those things that really irritates me for no particular reason, like people asking how many loans we can have over and over when it's already been explained by someone on the forum.

So did we...unless of course you are counting alcaraz. Thing is they are very close to a couple of signings, good ones too, and those will be wrapped up very soon, might even be before we confirm the signing of the Irish gk

I suppose if you’re just going to forget the 30m striker we signed last week and award Roma a bunch of signings they haven’t made on the basis of transfer rumours it does change the picture a bit.

Dealing in facts though there is no sign at all that TFG are favouring Roma in their transfer dealings.
