Whoever was running the show the last few seasons definitely forfeited the first few games until the window shut. They put valuable points in the bin over a few quid.
My point is, with psr picture looking healthier, we shouldn't be risking losing games early on just to save a few million by waiting for deadline day deals.
Thelwell did ok with no legroom last season, and it was on Dyche that we had his traditional sluggish start. We had N'Diaye and
O'Brien signed at the end of July and Onana sold, and then did loans.
You are right in your point about this season though. You can still get value but we cannot be and should not need to be, as passive as has been dictated in recent years.
Outside of loans and frees, it may actually cost more to get players in as the weeks tick down than doing so before kickoff.
We really need to have at least three more new signings in by the end of July, with the expectation that one of those is a backup GK.
