a loan fee could offset most of the PSR/Amortisation hit, maybe its a case of they want the asset on Evertons books for future use/sale. Interesting to see how this plays out.

There's no such thing as a set transfer budget.

No reason to expect that signing Wesley and send him to Roma will affect other transfer spending at all.

The issue with Longstaff is that he is a little bit of everything. Box to box with lots of energy, not great on the ball but decent defensively.

The type of player it would make sense to look into if we played with a three man midfield. The number 8 position that suits Longstaff doesn't exist in Everton's team.

We have arguably the worst midfield in the league when it comes to technical quality on the ball. Playing a Longstaff instead of Garner would make it significantly worse.

That said, I expect the Longstaff's and Soucek's of this world to be looked at as 10's by Moyes. As Doucoure upgrades. He'll play them over Alcaraz every day of the week.

Imo actually think alcaraz won him over I can really see him similar to cahill in always fighting to win and being in the right place. That and carries the ball well, i do agree think be a move like this or the lad knight from bristol, and can see moyes after a bigger more physical player

It won't affect or finances if they pay a loan fee and his salaries.

From what I read he seems likely to end up in Italy. With strong interest from both Milan and Juventus. So Roma might need a favor to beat the competition.

Also, if the Brazilians ask for 20% or 30% sell-on, they won't get anything if Everton sell him Roma next summer for the same price as we paid. Money saved.

And Everton would make a profit due to amortisation and the loan fee

On a (very) basic level maybe. Obviously if we buy the lad for £30m, loan him to Roma, he breaks his leg in his first game and is never the same player again then it very much does have an impact on Everton as we pay a bloke for 4 more years and see another £24m drain away for absolutely no benefit whatsoever.

To an extent yes, but I was responding to the point in context. If it's someone we're buying because we really want him and loaning him to Roma is just what we believe to be best for his development then yes that's true. That isn't what was being proposed at the time though, so it isn't what I responded to.

I have no idea. Just think Longstaff is crap and he is a sub at Newcastle. Ndidi rejected us before and is almost 29 and has regressed.

Likely that a loan fee would at least partially offset any amortisation (PSR) and this would in turn be partially offset by a Roma player loaned to Everton.
Everton would have the asset (player) and may sell to Roma or elsewhere and hopefully benefit from the profit on sale. Goes a bit tits-up if he gets injured or turns out to be a dud though...

Out of possession (60% of the time) Everton mostly played 4-4-2 with Doucoure as the player everyone looked at. When to press and when to drop off. When Doucoure pressed Beto had to follow and both the midfield and defense moved to higher position. When Doucoure dropped off the rest of the team was supposed to do the same.

Can Alcaraz do that part of the game? We know Beto doesn't have the needed football IQ and I'd be surprised if Barry was given so much responsibility.
