The club is mad. If they did bid even £25m of cash we can’t really spare for Gnonto, that’s clear admission that they know the squad needs something, presumably they thought he’d offer it. When we then fail with the bid (just like Giroud, Broja etc) they just pull the shutters down and go home, even though they have just told the entire fanbase that they also agree there is a hole that needs fixing and we’re willing to pay £25m to do it. But oh well, maybe next window.

They don’t realise that leaking all these supposed attempts to bring people in just makes them look even more stupid. They think it looks like they “tried”.
