....I understand Italy/Germany open on 1st July and Spain on 2nd July. The French and International windows opened on 11th June. Deals might still be done but I expect activity to ramp up when players can be officially registered, especially with players generally contracted to 30th June.

There has been very little activity anywhere to this point.

It’s very easy to operate before the official registration period, Real Madrid have signed 3/4 players already

....we can sign players from abroad and process the paperwork from 9th June because our window is open.

But players are still on holiday, we've just had the nation's cup, the afcon is going on and there's international's going on. It's usually not till July when there's no football on and players are back in training that things pick up.

Doesn't matter at all. Pickford was with England last summer when we signed him - actually makes it easier to do medicals when the facilities are in one area and there are experts all over.

...things might start to ramp up now incoming deals can now be done and the paperwork completed but activity is slow and I expect it will get busier next month.

Hate to tell you this big feller but pickford was already our player last summer:Blink:

Liverpool signed Fabinho the day after the Champions League final last year, they also had Van Dijk holding their shirt in front of his Christmas tree. Imagine thinking deals can only be done during “the transfer window”.

....not saying that, Mike, some deals will happen but it’s been very quiet and things will probably ramp up when the windows open.

Clubs will be back in pre season in about three weeks time, they will want their new signings completed and ready to start on the first day, if possible.

Is ther e an argument to be said that staggered transfers help more than the notion of "getting them in early"
Purely on a basis of moral and excitement

People are transfer fiends, they want one after another, if you get 4 players in on the exact day you report back to training and then do nothing else for 6 weeks, you are forgotten about, you are old news, there is no excitement.

I don’t think anyone necessarily thinks that, but a lot of selling clubs will wait for the windows to open in order to drive prices up for their players, etc.

If it was just up to buyers and players, 99% of transfer deals would probably be announced the day after the season finishes.
