Understand where you are coming from but it doesn't account for the fact alukaku basically kept us up under el fraudo.

Doesn't help we didn't invest at all whilst Lukaku was around either. Maybe if we had a better defence and some capable wingers/ or god forbid a striker to play up top with him we could've done a bit more.

No argument from me - His goals did keep us up, or at least made it less scary. I honestly do think that we were one dimensional under Lukaku - Stop Lukaku, and you stop Everton sort of thing. I think that is why we struggled against the better managers/teams. We do need a striker, but at least now, we have other options. Who do the opposition stop now? Stop Rooney, and up pops Sigurdsson. Stop Sigurdsson, and up pops Sandro, DCL, Lookman, Klaassen etc. I hope.

In the end, this is poor from everyone involved. We brought Sigurdsson in, and we couldn't even get someone to head in his free kicks. We stacked the central midfield, yet Koeman is afraid to drop the prodigal son, so we are stuck with a team devoid of pace. We brought in a 19 year-old winger whilst Koeman froze out one of the only experienced and healthy winger in the side. In the end, I think we will be alright, but I can understand the BUTTFRUSTRATIONS tonight. It reeks of classic Everton incompetence again.
