Summer Transfer Window 2017

Hot in demand Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has played down rumours linking him with a host of clubs by narrowing the chase for his signature in the summer to just three clubs.

19 year old Onyekuru has emerged as the bride of many teams in Europe due to his goal scoring exploits this season at modest side Belgian side Eupen ‎in his first season in the top flight.

The Nigerian who has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season is heavily linked with a move to four English teams in Crystal Palace, Everton, West Brom and Southampton.

Teams in Germany have also been linked with the forward, but speaking to Voetbalkrant Onyekuru said there’s every possibility of him joining either Everton or fellow Belgian side Anderlecht or Club Brugge in the summer.
” I truly don’t have anything to say for now regarding my possible destination in the summer. I’m sure I won’t be at Eupen. Everton, Club Brugge or Anderlecht? It’s possible I join one of the three in the summer”, he told Voetbalkrant.

Go to Anderlecht or Brugge for two years then step up to Everton. Seems logical to me.

Why we never signed Belfodil is in the Echo:

"The story behind Everton’s failed bid to sign Ishak Belfodil in January has been revealed.

The Algerian international had looked set to move to Goodison earlier this year, with the Blues willing to pay around £10m to take the striker from Standard Liege.

However, just as it appeared the 25-year-old would be on his way to Merseyside, the transfer collapsed. Everton ended January without adding a senior centre forward to their ranks, despite Ronald Koeman acknowledging a lack of options there.

Christophe Henrotay, an agent involved in the Belfodil deal, claimed in January that Koeman had “suddenly changed his mind” on the player, and claimed that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright had become “annoyed” at the situation.

The transfer statements Everton should make this summer - what do they need and for how much?
In April, Liege president Bruno Venanzi claimed that the Jupiler League club had not received any kind of offer from Everton for Belfodil, challenging anyone to prove otherwise.

And the challenge appears to have been taken up by former Belgian international Daniel Van Buyten, who was acting as a transfer advisor with Standard Liege at the time.

Van Buyten gave his version of events to Sport/Foot, saying: “From the moment the player tells you ‘if there’s a good offer and I want to go, we sit down and discuss it’, you think it’s intelligent to force him to stay? You want to head into the play-offs with a player like that?

“In his head, he wasn’t at Standard any more.

“And when I tell you they are a bunch of liars... Bruno Venanzi went on TV and said there wasn’t an official offer for Belfodil? He also promised at the start of the show to tell the truth. Look.”

Van Buyten reportedly produced an e-mail from Everton on his iPhone at this point.

“It can’t be any clearer,” he said. “It’s an email from Everton. They offered €10m (2 x €5m), and an easy €2m bonus. What’s more official than that?

“I didn’t want to absolutely sell him, but when you can get €12m for a player who arrived on a free, and when you’ve promised him you won’t stand in his way, you have to follow through.”

Belfodil’s form tailed off somewhat following the collapse of his Premier League transfer. Having started the season well, he endured a six-game scoring drought, though he has since netted four goals in his last six appearances. Liege currently sit ninth in the Belgian first division."

What is the relationship between these two? He seems to be everywhere for us. Could this have been something like the Raiola madness of overpaying for one player to get another (Belfodil to get Tielemans)? I think Henrotay is involved in Tielemans representation.

Henrotay is the agent of belfodil aye, also Mirallas agent and the agent for Tielemans and Dendoncker - who we have been linked to both

I'm just annoyed after yesterday's figures re: Railoa about how much agents take from the game and he seems to be one we're always talked about in conjunction with.

If we get both of those Anderlecht prospects though I will care a lot less.

Bill and Henrotay have a very good relationship by all accounts. If we're dealing with a player from Belgium, Henrotay is brought in to help. Think he had a helping hand in getting Lukaku permanently too.

Think the relationship all come from the Mirallas deal.

AN agent involved in Everton’s aborted move for Ishak Belfodil claims Ronald Koeman had a sudden change of heart over the player - and Bill Kenwright got “a bit bored”.

The Blues looked to be moving in on the Standard Liege forward after tabling a £10.4m offer but Koeman pulled the plug on the transfer.

Christophe Henrotay, the representative of Kevin Mirallas and former agent to Romelu Lukaku, was drafted in to help the deal but Everton had a change of heart.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Henrotay gave a comprehensive explanation of how the deal fizzled out.

He said: "Belfodil still had a one-year contract with with an option for an additional season. Standard president Venanzi called me. Belfodil’s agent had let him know that there was a lot of interest.

"He feared that some clubs would try to take advantage of his contractual situation.

"I’ve spoken to a few clubs about Belfodil, including Everton. They confirmed their interest. One of Belfodil’s agents asked me to help me, given my good contacts with the clubs.

“I immediately made an appointment with Everton’s chairman Bill Kenwright. I know him very well as I’ve transferred Lukaku and Mirallas to Goodison Park.

"We agreed to meet-up in London. I said to Bill: “You’re me friend, but Venanzi is also my friend. If you pay a low transfer fee, the Standard fans will turn against Venanzi. You have to increase your bid.

"Kenwright answered: “I want to maintain our good relationship: we are going to make a better offer, but I’ll remember this for the next time".

“The transfer was on, until Ronald Koeman suddenly changed his mind.

"He’d received some negative information about the player – though the player is an exceptional professional.
"Kenwright was a bit annoyed with the situation, but because Everton had raised the price, Standard were able to keep a player they needed badly.

"My role in this transfer was simple. I intervened to help a friend, who didn’t have the experience with deals like this. I didn’t take any commission fee.

"Belfodil’s agent did a good job and agreed a new deal with Standard. Everyone’s satisfied.”

Henrotay i don't believe has a bad reputation amongst agents anyway, Rialoa has always been regarded as an utter snake on the other hand - anyone who did almost all of his business with Italian clubs at the height of all the corruption going on there is as dodgy as hell.

Just like to see us target the teams who are renowned for churning out good prospects who make it at the very top - Anderlecht, Ajax mainly - we seem to be one step behind other teams in this

wonder if Kevs new contract has anything to do with Tielemans or Dendoncker

Honestly no idea mate, Henrotay being both their agents certainly won't harm any chances, same as the lad we are after from Malaga (Sandro) - his agent also has some very very high profile clients - a couple who we have been very tenuously linked too recently

Yeah, getting mixed up - Henrotay was brought in to help broker the deal 'i think'

Yep he's the one Standard always uses for their shady deals where money disappears into the hands of some board member or so. Shady club. Friends with Venazi. Italian-Walloon-Belgian mafia fest. It used to be more pronounced when it was still with D'onofrio et al.

Fair enough, seems an innocuous relationship. Interesting that Bill said "I'll remember this next time" or maybe not really, kinda cryptic.

Good he (Henrotay) didn't seek to take a commission for a mediation role, as per his quotes in the echo.

For me I don't care where a player comes from if they can play. Saying that however I would like both previously mentioned Anderlecht players and Dolberg. Possibly baby Kluivert in a few years time too.

Aye both have a very very good production line that in reality we should be trying to tap, we can't buy star players from CL teams in top leagues, we can't but the top young players once they've already made that first move unless we get incredibly lucky like with Lukaku, so we are left either trying to snag solid players or taking gambles on erratic players or people who've gone under the radar.

Ultimately the thing that makes the difference with 'most' successful teams is the younger 'star' players they've bought maturing at the right time

Athletico and Dortmund are two great examples of teams that specifically target lesser leagues looking for younger players - who they will actually then give the game time too rather than rotting in reserves or on loan.
