Summer Transfer Window 2017

He's a good winger who does chip in with goals and assists, but played up front in the Napoli system he's shown he is capable of scoring a shed load mate, would have him in a heartbeat as he's a clever player and a serious upgrade over anything we currently have

Hmm I know he's been good this year but for what they'd want and his age he's just risky for me.

Not sure he would cost that much though mate, entering the last year of his contract this summer, and by the looks of it won't be extending. Missus wants to leave Italy - already moved back to Belgium by all reports

Why does everyone like Mertens so much? He's 30 in a few days and this is the only season I've actually though he stood out. Proper Belgian Vardy in my opinion for what he'd cost.

He's been outstanding this season, looks like Griezmann. Quick, aggressive, hard working, great touch and great shot. Different level of footballer to Vardy.

But I don't know why everyone mentions him as he's obviously got no reason to join us.

For what it's worth I'd take any of the Napoli players in our first team. They've done some unbelievable stuff this year.

You know he plays for Napoli right? Their chairman is a stickler for stuff like this. £60m for Koulibaly ffs haha.

Goalkeepers (2)
Stekelenberg, Robles

Centre Backs (6)
Jagielka, Funes Mori, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Galloway

Fullbacks (3)
Baines, Coleman, Garbutt

Centre Mids (8)
Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Cleverley, McCarthy, Grant

Attacking Mids (3)
Barkley, McCaleny, Tarashaj

Wingers (5)
Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Deulofeu, McGeady

Strikers (7)
Lukaku, Kone, Valencia, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Niasse, Rodriguez

Thats our complete list of senior players i believe - not counting some of the academy kids who've made a bench etc but not played (34 players in total)

Ones that you'd imagine would be 100% set to leave this summer would be
Kone, Cleverley, Valencia, Rodriguez, Mcgeady, Tarashaj, Garbutt, Grant, McCaleny and Niasse - 10 players - which instantly knocks us down to 24 players.

ones that look either nailed on or at the very high chance they 'could' go
Deulofeu, McCarthy, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Galloway, Mirallas, Stek or Robles - another 8 - which would put us down to just 16

Throw in the fact we have Coleman and Bolasie out long term with injuries as well as whats just happened with Lennon - puts us down to 13...

Robles, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Barkley, Lukaku, DCL and Lookman (Coleman, Bolasie out long term) even if we keep some of the players like Mirallas, Jagielka - we will still need a lot of new players coming in.

we need about 8-9 players in during the summer who are all capable of playing in the first team right now. It's why players like Rooney are good shouts - we will need to spend a whole lot already, and any bargain we can get will help hugely.

With the fact Barkley/Lukaku are both linked away as well, bit nerve racking

I am more concerned that our plan to improve our fortunes seems to be to grab a load of players from clubs below us.

Obviously it may work, there are many players like that who have turned out well but I fear that our (as in the fans plans) seem to be based around solidifying 7th place.

based on what? The window is two months away from opening, how do you know what our plans are?

You never know what might happen but I wouldn't rule out Koulibaly completely. We wanted him before and he'll know that and the only other club that wanted him when we did last summer, Chelsea, seem to if turned their attentions to other players, most notably van Dijk!

But I'm not too worried about us bringing in a CB or 2, there's plenty of quality out there to choose from, from the likes Keane, Maguire, Gibson, van Dijk, Koulibaly, Acerbi, Manolas, Rudiger, de Vrij, Davinson Sanchez, Veltman, Rubén Semedo, Nastasic, Tah, Bruma, Vestergaard, Laporte, Lemos, Gimenez, INIGO MARTINEZ Kara Mbodj, Engles, Kjaer, Musacchio to name a few....

There is no way on gods green earth that anyone with the surname Martinex should ever be allowed near our club again

what about a Martinez

I said the fans plans not the clubs. The idea seems to be go out and get a load of players from clubs below us. I think you can do that for one or two players but not a bunch of them.

That's actually the best way to improve at first - look at City.

We're not yet in a position that we can be confident of 100% getting a deal for a player at a top club (i.e. Koulibaly) over the line.

However, there's no doubt that players like Keane or Sigurdsson would improve us.

It's irrelevant which club they play for. If they are better than what we have and the price is right, they should be brought in.

Same goes for Rooney. He's better than what we have, if the deal is a good one for the club then we should do it. If not there's other targets.

Is the club not irrelevant? Burnley and Swansea might be worse teams than us but no one can say Keane and Sigurddson aren't good enough to play for Everton. Likewise United are above us but Ashley Young sure as Hell wouldn't get in our team.

the other side to this is that mainly recruiting players from below you all the time develops an inferior complex within the league when it comes to challenging the clubs at the top. You cannot expect to challenge if the players you sign are very much experienced in not being succesful. some of the names mentioned would improve us yes, but year after year that mind set will become the norm, and essentially will develop into us being simply a feeder club of sorts, players joining us to play at the level that will get them noticed elsewhere to move on again.

I genuinely believe we should be developing our own players to improve over time. sign the young players with potential and develop a team out of them. your williams and Schneiderlin players are great short term, the young players who will improve will be the long term answer.

Rather than look for the best players in the worst teams, how about we just have our own players?

Depends. I was one of the only ones who was delighted to be signing Gueye when he was coming from a worse club. Keane has had one good season (he has done very well don't get me wrong) and there is a chance that his partnership with Mee is a big part in what makes him look good. Sigurdsson I am not really convinced by. His stats are really good dont get me wrong and on the surface he seems like a no brainer but how much of it is down to his situation at Swansea? He is the big fish there in a small pond. Can he do a similar job at another club? Who knows?

Keane and Sigurdsson are good enough to be playing for us I reckon, however are they what we need to take us to the next level? I am not 100% convinced about that.
