Goalkeepers (2)
Stekelenberg, Robles

Centre Backs (6)
Jagielka, Funes Mori, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Galloway

Fullbacks (3)
Baines, Coleman, Garbutt

Centre Mids (8)
Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Cleverley, McCarthy, Grant

Attacking Mids (3)
Barkley, McCaleny, Tarashaj

Wingers (5)
Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Deulofeu, McGeady

Strikers (7)
Lukaku, Kone, Valencia, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Niasse, Rodriguez

Thats our complete list of senior players i believe - not counting some of the academy kids who've made a bench etc but not played (34 players in total)

Ones that you'd imagine would be 100% set to leave this summer would be
Kone, Cleverley, Valencia, Rodriguez, Mcgeady, Tarashaj, Garbutt, Grant, McCaleny and Niasse - 10 players - which instantly knocks us down to 24 players.

ones that look either nailed on or at the very high chance they 'could' go
Deulofeu, McCarthy, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Galloway, Mirallas, Stek or Robles - another 8 - which would put us down to just 16

Throw in the fact we have Coleman and Bolasie out long term with injuries as well as whats just happened with Lennon - puts us down to 13...

Robles, Williams, Pennington, Holgate, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Barry, Besic, Barkley, Lukaku, DCL and Lookman (Coleman, Bolasie out long term) even if we keep some of the players like Mirallas, Jagielka - we will still need a lot of new players coming in.

we need about 8-9 players in during the summer who are all capable of playing in the first team right now. It's why players like Rooney are good shouts - we will need to spend a whole lot already, and any bargain we can get will help hugely.

Yeh the cull will start early. Clevs has gone and Grant has a deal lined up then there's the others out of contract. We do need around 8 players I think but I wouldn't say we needed 8 "starters". Maybe 4 expensive players and 4 more value for money? Discounting the ability to bring in more loans/pre-contracts. It's annoying our pre-season is brought forwards but I think it will be interesting to see who is around for the first training camps both senior and academy.

I'm excited anyway no matter what happens because we'll hopefully enter summer with a squad carrying no deadwood.

Weaken sides below to ensure we don't drop below where we are and hope the players we have that could play higher take us there. In theory...

Although I must ask, in the days when money is now pretty irrelevant, why would players from teams above us drop down? Sure we're a big club but CL players won't give a crap about that.

Money isn't irrelevant at all mate in reality, look at Monaco, they attract players whilst playing in a 20k stadium they never even fill - they do it because they pay well and they hardly pay tax, and it gives the players the platform to get that move to the 'glamour' team - which then comes with even more wages and endorsements etc. Look at players who have constantly been bought from established Cl teams by team not playing in it - but who can offer serious wage icnreases and a higher profile platform - thus better endorsements etc.

remember everyone saying we'd struggle to convince witsel to come etc, because of no CL etc etc etc, the same lad is now playing in China - the CL is used by both clubs/owners and players/agents as a way of explaining why the club couldn't spend the money/attract the quality players or on the players side - to get a much bigger contract offer to make up for the lack of CL exposure etc.

CL for the most part is just a contractual bargaining chip

See the rs - they have already leaked stories about a huge transfer 'warchest' etc to the papers, and various players they are after - but quickly following on come leakes to the same papers about how it is dependant on CL football etc, so getting their excuse in early

Good assessment of the squad, its largely pants/average and yet some are turning their noses up at the likes of Rooney/Sigurdsson. Get them both in, then about 6 more.

End of the day we want to finish summer with the likes of McCarthy/RFM as our worst players.

You're misunderstanding my comment re: money being irrelevant. I'm not saying players don't chase money, I'm saying even with Moshiri we don't exactly offer anything different to a lot of clubs at our level. The likes of Palace etc. can probably match the wages we're offering bigger stars I'd imagine so then it comes down to what else we can offer them and that is only EL for now not CL.

One of our biggest pulls for these prodigies is we've proven we will play them.

Wasn't saying we need 8 - first 11 players mate, more that we need 8 players who are capable of playing a significant part this season - not players who need 2-3 years of development/loans etc before they are ready

The likes of Tielemans, Dolberg, Henry, Pickford would be very astute buys, they will only go up in value over the next few years and we won't lose on any of them even if they don't develop much.

We really will need to spend close to 150m or more this summer IMO to have a squad fit for purpose, thankfully think we can raise a significant part of that through sales of the players we mentioned (80-90m)

Yup

Something like Rooney, Sigurdsson, Keane, Kolasanic - we NEED to sign this level of player just to ensure we are stable

Dream would be getting in a couple like VVD/Koulibaly, Mertens etc - they are the calibre that could instantly improve us up another level

then we need to take some risks and gamble on some players like Tielemans, Pickford, Dolberg etc - players who have the right work ethic by all accounts and have a huge potential to really step up a level, they are the ones that could do for us what Alli, Eriksen and a couple of others did for Spurs.

Ah right yeh, I'm just worried a lot of posters on here want all these prospects and then that's it like we're somehow going to gel. This campaign in 4 competitions starting in July will be mentally tough if we have too many kids.

I trust the management team to do the right thing despite last summer's farce. Although new manager and DoF in was always going to be difficult. They've had 12 months now so no excuse to not hit the ground running.

Why does everyone like Mertens so much? He's 30 in a few days and this is the only season I've actually though he stood out. Proper Belgian Vardy in my opinion for what he'd cost.

I actually think we will do business early this summer for the most part (least i hope so)

A LOT depends on the results in the EL and league for the rest though, United win the EL and the rs finish 4th will ensure we don't have those horrid qualifications game effectively replacing our pre season.

As for the benefits of them both getting it - yeah more money and maybe better players they can attract, but the added CL games will take their toles on them over the season

Would we go straight into the groups with that conclusion? I'm honestly lost with all the qualification rules these days.

He's a good winger who does chip in with goals and assists, but played up front in the Napoli system he's shown he is capable of scoring a shed load mate, would have him in a heartbeat as he's a clever player and a serious upgrade over anything we currently have

Yup the way it works is that the first two teams that qualify for the EL go into groups, in the situation that England have 5 CL teams involved then they lose that 3rd El spot so both EL teams go auto into group stages.

Didn't know this.
