Summer Transfer Window 2017

Transfer negotiations can seem like Russian routlette at times, I wouldn't envy Walsh and Koeman over the summer.

We can only influence the things can we control, and as a basic starting point I hope everyone is clear as to their respective roles, we have progressed significantly with scouting and target identification, and have already in some cases, been speaking with agents.

Get our own house in order and things become easier. We sound and look more impressive to players and agents. Everyone singing from the same hymn-sheet as it were. That didn't appear to be the case last summer.

The important thing is that we have enough options. It should not be a case of having to progressively move down the list of desirables for every position. Maybe for one or two, but not the majority.

There are plenty of examples out there of clubs who have managed to build what are on the whole very good squads whilst suffering the disadvantages of continuously losing their better players and/or being perceived as unfashionable with respect to their neighbours or peers - Napoli both pre- and post-Higuain, Atletico Madrid under Simeone, Seville, and closer to home, Spurs. Look at what Monaco have achieved with the right blend of coach, manager, and executive management. Obviously we cannot offer UCL but neither could any of those clubs until relatively recently.

Personally it seems as if I'm already preparing to be disappointed before things have even got going - but it shouldn't be like that at all. Spurs signed Modric with no UCL. There are enough of the types of players we need, individually, and then coming together as a team, to push us forward. It requires intensive and detailed planning though, no stone left unturned.

I read today that Sunderland will slap 30m on Pickford.. not sure how well that will go down considering he will be a Championship player..

worked for newcastle with sissoko. I'd offer £20m and say take it or leave it sland, the player would possibly want to make the move happen then. We can always up our offer of a couple of million if need be.

Outfield players out this summer and off the wage bill by probability rate IMO (yes I am slacking and can't be arsed doing any work!)

100% - Kone, Niasse, McGeady, Cleverley, Garbutt
75% - Geri, Valencia, McCarthy, Lukaku, Barkley
50% - Mirallas, Jagielka

I may have missed a couple more, but that is a massive overhaul of the squad.

Players to step up from U23's such as Kenny and also the likes of Lookman but it is a massive rebuilding job this summer.

Cleverley has already gone and Valencia isn't even our player so how he's on 75% of going I'll never know.

I only put that as we have an option to buy, so I am saying there is about a 25% chance we will keep him.

Thought Cleverley's clause kicked in at the end of the season.

Just had a look at the customary YouTube highlight reel. Looks to have a lot of qualities we're missing, hard working, links up well, has pace, is direct, good passer, has a rocket of a shot from range including set pieces.

He actually looks immense from the clips I've watched. Seems too good to be true.

Didn't we say that about Deulofeu..? Honestly, Sandro looks the business.
