Especially if Barcelona are after them...as he seems to think they are for him.

Lol.

I wouldn't take too seriously what any manager says, tbh. Never mind one who told his last club he'd see out his last contract.

Suppose Martinez is the type of manager to be on Barca's list though.

...interesting comments from RK in the last few days, the club are investing in the future but managers don't stay around for long these days so he's also concentrating on the shorter term. I can understand that.
Seems like RK will have the main input into the players going straight into the team.

While Walsh will pick the 4/5 players 19-21yr olds. For the future.

It's what i said the other day i think mate, him and Walsh will be making agreements with each other, off two separate lists, one for the now and one for the future, a bit of give and take from both is the way to go.

It 'could' mean that we do end up with some agreements to go for those players with a foot in both camp, young players but who are ready to contribute now (Pickford being a classic example, maybe Dolberg would be in that category as well)

Pure gueswork but i think Koeman can be pragmatic when needed, but will drive a hard bargain - and may set up certain 'must get' targets and if that happens he will concede ground and let younger players be brought in - still have a gut feeling we will go balls out for VVD myself

Would love him here, him and dolberg up front in a couple of seasons could be absolutely lethal together
Iheanacho's goal per minutes/game ratio is very good and from what I've personally seen he's got a number of strong assets to his game.

I'd be more than happy to have him here, but I can see a number of top clubs around Europe taking an interest in him if he's allowed to leave.

Settled in the north west, we have a decent relationship with city - are some logistics we have going for us.

On other notes, IF Lukaku does stay this season, then every agent will know he is off come next summer almost certainly so the opportunity to be the number 1 will be their soon, plus with it likely we won't have any player on the books whose actually ever played striekr for us besides Rom come the summer - game time will be a hell of a lot more than at City

(side note - IF we are offering to pay Pickford 90k pw - then maybe it shows a club strategy of trying to target younger players where we can give them a massive increase over what they currently earn - and more than the other teams would consider) - offering to triple a players wage etc - will turn a head fast i guess. Be an interesting strategy like, how willing would top European teams be to offer teenagers 70-80k pw on their first big move?

Good point ref the wages it creates an angle for Us. We overpay thus moving us to the front of a queue we otherwise probably wouldn't be able to join in a competitive manner

Put it this way, if we play the game on the established rules - re/ fees and wages, we won't get anyone that a 'bigger/wealthier' team wants as well.

Look at the team we have, the only really top nothc player we have who could be argue to be out of our current range to attract is Lukaku - a player we went in hard for - paid over the odds and got him before he was proven enough that the BIG teams where willing to stump up the fee and wages we where.

Should follow that model with Pickford, Dolberg, Tielemans etc

Definitely look at Liverpool a slightly different profile of player but similar principle followed when they signed Torres alonso & Suarez all players the top clubs considered & would have purchased at the right price but there was an element of doubt due to the whole financial package.

Effectively this, the real top of the tree clubs won't buy them to start instantly, the clubs that will start them will be able to be priced out on them, we offer Ajax 25m and the player 80k per week, with the knowledge he's coming in as a first team regular - then don't see many if any teams willing to match those three conditions.

Tielmans definitely falls into this bracket as does dolberg. Hopefully Ajax have ready made replacements on there production line I'm sure kluiverts son is massively rated & not far away.

Monaco may be an issue for us certainly with tielmans they will undoubtedly make some major sales & look to reinvest in young top talent tielmans being one. They will have champions league to offer also.
