Summer Transfer Window 2017

he's twenty bloody three mate, he's scoring goals in the lower leagues because that's his level, he's massively away from the standard we need.

Probably. Id just like one last look before getting rid of him. Same for Garbutt. The thing is the youngsters are cheap to keep which is why I'd look at them longer.

We really need to think about replacing Baines, Jags, Williams, Barry now as even though they have given great service they are on their way down IMO

Of course we're light years behind Chelsea - apart from Cahill (who joined about then) their side has been rebuilt in the past 5 years (David Luiz left and returned). Basically they shipped out Torres, Cole, Lampard, Terry (this summer), Essien, Ramires, Branislav, Cech, Malouda, Mata, Mikel, Sturridge, Lukaku (whom they might want back), Bertrand and others who came since and went like Schurlle and Oscar.. They have the power to churn their players over and replace them with new blood - like Hazard, Pedro, Courtois.. their current squad and whoever they've got out on loan.

So we could forensically go through all the Spurs, Chelsea, City, United and perhaps Liverpool and Arsenal squads and compare their depth to ours. For us to be consistently their equal we need to think about shifting nearly all the established first teamers and maybe a few of the youngsters. Right now if you ask me "who, presently on our books, would I WANT to see still in an Everton shirt in August 2019" (start of next season plus two) giving us 5 windows to resolve.. and accounting for age, ability etc. then I say - with good fortune (wanting to stay etc)

Definitely: Tom Davies, Romelu Lukaku
Probably: (barring significant upgrades to side greater than present): Morgan Schneiderlin, Gana Gueye
Possibly: Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley, Leighton Baines at a push

Young players worth persevering with: Lookman, DCL, Holgate, Walsh and 2 or 3 others who haven't been given a chance yet

The rest: Too old, injury liable or just not good enough..
Robles, Stek, RFM, Williams, Jagielka, McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Deulofeu, Cleverly, McGeady, Henen, Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Niasse, Kone and the rest of the kids (definitely to include Garbutt, McAleny and some others I'm not sure about through lack of first team exposure)

So, get the cheque book out basically as "the rest" will only bring in about £50-60M tops and, by my reckoning we need to sign about 12 to 15 players over that timeframe. Let's say £300M NET SPEND is needed to get close to the top 4.

Napoli are on BT Sport 2 now away to Inter if anyone's interested? Koulibaly is in the team and doing well, just looks like a rolls Royce of a defender here, an absolute unit aswell. And he's no slouch either!

Would love it if we could sign this fella.....
Completely agree. Koulibaly was a beast today. Getting him might be hard but is worth trying. These are the type of signings that could massively improve us.

So 300m to move us up 6 points? Hard taskmaster you.

It's not just this summer but over a few transfer windows before we can get the right players in to challenge not only for the UCL but the title itself.

This nonsense about £300m or £400m in one window is a pipe dream. It would have to be staggered over several windows.

Real questions are can we attract the players we need as the teams above will spend big too and are we the fans patient enough to wait ?

Look mate, you might have got away with this in the past, but you aint even a forum supporter anymore, so pay up or shut up, before I blow you up.
I'm just banned from the upgraded forum bro. It's there but i can't read it as it says I'm banned from opening threads. I done a post game thoughts thread and @GrandOldTeam took a hissy fit and pressed some buttons. That's power for you bro.
