Great site lads I'm off to design next seasons kit

Smart recruitment is what we need now, not to be wasting 40 million each on 3/4 players. There will be a time for the huge price tags, but it's not this summer.

Signings like Sigurdsson, Keane and Pickford would be a good start and even that won't be cheap. Lukaku goes and we'll bring in a few forwards who will replace his goals. I gather Koeman prefers having various options up front over one option, and three strikers should be enough to replace Rom's goals depending on their ability.

And Koeman mentioning about needing more goals from the whole squad means there will be a search for attacking players who can create AND score. Which makes the Bolasie signing last year even more bizarre, the lad doesn't score enough.

Did anyone do this quite fun interactive thingy in the echo on which players you would keep and which you'd get rid of.

My only keeps from the main 1st team squad were:

Holgate
Seamus
Schneids
Gana
Barkley
Lukaku
Lookman
Davies

and for a longer look at their potential, the youngsters:

Browning
Connolly
Pennington
Dowell
Galloway
Garbutt
McAleny (not sure he's got what it takes but he's knocking the goals in out on loan)
Kenny
Ledson
probably some more youngsters I've forgotten about.

Pretty bad when I can only think of 8 regular first team squad that I really rate and want to keep for our future success.

leandro still "plays" for us.

i kept all of them except kone, browning (probably harsh but i think he's well down on the ladder), pennington, garbutt, mcalney, grant, shani (can't even play for frankfurt so i'm fairly confident in writing him off despite being impressed originally), leandro, niasse and mcgeady.

None of those above are good enough for us and join cleverley on the way out for me. I'd keep all of barry, jagielka, mori, mccarthy, lennon and deulofeu (although i think he'll be of). We need a squad, people want to sell all these, but our squad would be down to about 15 players. We already need about 6 or 7 players before shipping off all these backups, only 3 of them would actually collect a decent enough fee anyway, what would we gain from shipping out the others, they're always on the bench at worse so if we sold them we'd have to replace most as well anyway. Same with keepers, we need 3, we're only going to buy 1, can't see us selling 1 and buying 2.

I think dela and mccarthy will be sold as well as all those i stated bar pennington and browning, plenty of deadwood being shafted there imo.

Then next summer we then look at bulking up the squad even more and shifting on the older guard like barry, jagielka, mccarthy and lennon. Depends how many squad numbers we use up with new signings, i ain't worrying about that now. I've left 24 in there with what i've picked, with about 6 or 7 of them being youngsters anyway.

The vermin didnt get fined did they?

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/27/liverpool-cleared-ffp-hull-city-fined

And anyway, City were fined due to FFP, the STCC rules are nasty orrible 1s.

But theres ways round them, ways which we are already doing with regards the USM tie in.

People need to forget FFP, we cleared the decks in the last window, we have money to spend and a free canvas to paint our picture.

We arent even a million miles away, 3-4 players in key areas, top, top quality players, not Tier 1, just the Tier 2s like Morgan.

Im not saying 4 players would win us the league, far from it, but I personally feel if they were the right players they could give us a lot more to shout about entering the final month of next season.

Reading every thread tonight and every single player, bar Tom Davies is getting ripped, we dont have 20 bad players, we dont need 20 new players.
I said exactly this on twitter and got ripped apart, loads of people saying that we need 8 new world class players if we want to even push for top 4. My argument was if our whole squad is fit then we only 4 top players, preferably including a GK & a young top CB and I said 2 top wingers on each side also but so far Koeman doesn't seem to favour out and out wingers, even Bolasie wasn't really deployed in that role much. Obviously we need to strengthen the squad depth too, Kone and Valencia don't cut it.

What four "world class" players, as in the Toni Kroos', Jerome Boatengs, Eden Hazards... Etc etc, are going to come to Everton?

I never said that we needed or were going to get 'world class' players, while it would be great I think we'd struggle to attract them just yet. I said 'top' players. Players like Schniederlin, in that bracket. Some of the players we're being linked with definitely fall under that bracket and would definitely have us pushing for a spot in the top 4. We're only 8 points from 4th, a gap we could well shorten in the remaining fixtures and had we got 3 points from United (which we should have) we'd only have been 6 points adrift going into today's match. Also I doubt that we'll have that terrible run of 10 games we had at the start of this season, next season (hopefully), so I stand by what I said, 4 top players and a few upgraded squad players could see us pushing the top 4 quite easily and give us something to build on and help us maybe attract 'world class' players.

Whoops. Probably but seeing him knock goals in and DCL not and Tarashaj Rodriguez and Henen disappear into thin air makes me want to have one last look at him

he's twenty bloody three mate, he's scoring goals in the lower leagues because that's his level, he's massively away from the standard we need.
