It's about the people in charge of the club actually bringing a striker in when the manager has publicly been asking for one every chance he has got.

It's the hope that the people in charge of transfers could for once go out and negotiate with a club for a striker and not completely mess it up yet again. 12 months ago we were in the same position needing a striker, it would be nice to think with 12 months notice we actually went out and bought one this time.

Ok, just for a moment let's assume that they would be willing to accept £55m (which they wouldn't, or he'd be off to Liverpool already).... there's close to zero chance the player would say yes to us... at which point Liverpool would come in and match the offer.
