I am certain Walsh will be trawling everywhere to find the very best players for the best outlay.

There is just a general lack of high quality strikers available in general.
Watching old footage of Rooney versus what Lukaku can bring to the table, they are miles apart in talent.
30+ year olds Messi and Ronaldo are still the best players in the world and have dominated for almost a decade.

I think the effects of money is taking away that desire for players to push themselves for perfection.

We'd made so much progress Tim. So much...

Genuinely though, there's over six weeks of the window left to go. We've signed six players, all of which were brought in before Rom had 'officially' left.

We've got our targets I am sure, and it's now just a case of making sure we get our primary ones. There's literally no need to panic and the additions we've brought in so far have given us breathing room heading into pre-season.

I expect Sandro, Pickford and Holgate will be returning to the fold by next Monday at the latest as well.

well obviously they play the same postion but different types of centre forwards, thought that was pretty obvious.

Benteke and Lukaku are nothing alike in terms of playing style though, which is what the OP was referring to.

Batshuayi is a poor man's Lukaku.

It wasn't though. He was never played as a target man by Koeman (Martinez tried to an extent in 14/15, but even he figured out it was a no go).

Any striker has to have a balance to their game. But comparing Benteke and Lukaku is like apples and oranges.

I appreciate the comments re the target man bit, my interpretation of it might be a little bit different I guess.

He was the focal point of our attack, o for me the guy we look for when we play it forward.

I appreciate he isn't a Giroud or Pelle, but think we are splitting hairs a touch.
