Moyesy says:
David Moyes insists his summer transfer targets won't only be free transfers.
Qualification for the Europa League next term means Everton could play considerably more fixtures than this season.
And the Everton boss is keen to boost the numbers in his squad after injuries left him short on personnel at various stages of the current campaign.
But he won't be content with just adding free 'Bosman' transfers to his squad.
"I know that we are going to need more players," he said at his weekly press conference ahead of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
"I think when you want to finish in the top four or five in the Premier League you are going to need more than Bosmans. They might help prop up the squad and we will need that as well, but I think in truth we will need to make signings to add to the players we have here and give us a chance of - at the worst - staying where we are, but hopefully progressing."
Two of Moyes' existing signings - Steven Pienaar and Leighton Baines - have caught the eye in recent weeks, and Moyes acknowleges the pair are more than living up to their reputations.
"Since the players have gone out through injury, we have kept asking people to step up to the mark and help us. Steven has done an awful lot in recent weeks to do that," said the manager. "When he was at Ajax he was one of the most sought-after players and I think he's getting back to that form now.
"We thought he (Baines) would be key when we signed him and he has proven to be that. Left-backs are difficult to get and it's difficult to get good ones.
"He has been patient and he has been terrific this season and rightly was called up to the England squad."
