I’ll just get this out there ‘cos I’ll feel better afterwards…

DCL has never been a PL standard striker. I’ve been of that view since watching him early doors. Thanks for your efforts lad, the door is over there.

He'll be playing somewhere else in the premier league next season, perhaps not as week in week out starter but on a free someone else will take him.

People can criticise his form and it's been wildly up and down since start of 2021 season for many seasons but there's still a difference to what he offers compared to say Ellis Simms (and he may get another chance in the prem very soon).

What is "PL standard striker"? How many of the current strikers playing PL are PL standard strikers? Is DCL the worst striker playing in the PL?

A PL standard striker is one who consistently scores more goals and provides more assists - especially the former - than DCL has ever done. If you want me to out a number on it, I’d say a minimum of 20 goals a season. No, not all current PL strikers are up to it, and no, DCL isn’t the worst striker in the PL (though is in the running for most injury prone). We are Everton, and we require a PL standard striker. At present, it cannot be said with certainty that any of our playing personnel are that.

How many strikers in the last 5 seasons have scored a minimum of 20 goals a season?

Last season there were 3 PL level strikers then: Haaland, Palmer and Isak. Players who were not PL level: Watkins, Foden, Solanke, Salah, Son, Saka, Bowen...

22/23: PL quality: Haaland, Kane, Toney. Not PL quality: Salah, Wilson, Rashford, Odegaard, Watkins, Martinelli..

21/22: PL quality: Salah, Son. Not: Ronaldo, Kane, Mane, de Bruyne, Jota, Vardy...

I think you’re describing a higher level than “PL standard”

20 PL goals a season makes you world class, not PL standard.

I think you've pulled that number out of thin air without actually looking at the numbers.

20 goals a season strikers are like gold dust (goal dust).

15 league goals a season would to me be a very healthy total for our main striker. That's in a full season and assuming no/minimal injuries.

We'd be doing well to get someone in who could deliver that assuming none of our existing lot can do so.

We do need that goal return from someone and for it to be complimented by the rest of the team but I'd be surprised if we went for x2 strikers unless two of DCL, Broja, Beto, and Chermiti are elsewhere next season.

I agree that 15 goals a season would be both healthy and acceptable. We have new, aspirational, owners who are well-resourced, a superb new stadium, and an experienced manager. In establishing a longer term development plan, it’s reasonable to include in that plan the acquisition of a 20 goal a season striker. For too long EFC have neither planned, nor been led, in a manner that will deliver sustained (or any) success. It’s time to change that. It’s

A lot of positivity around the club regarding the summer, can any of the money people tell me, if we spend big this summer, will that likely mean we won’t spend as much in the following years?
It all depends on how much extra income we can extract from the new stadium
Hopefully naming rights , new shirt sponsorship and better all round commercial deals
The more we earn the more we can spend
