Is there much of a history of Italian defenders succeeding in the EPL? I hate to paint with such broad strokes, but the English game seems to have so much more of a physical side that I question how well some (especially older) Italian defenders would do in England. For the record, I'm not denying the class of these players (Nesta, Ambrosini, etc), just wondering about their "fit" in our game.

Providing Bill gets his finger out, and we can afford their wages and signing on fee's (how depressing) then there are quite a few on there i'd hope we'd be looking at.

we would deffo need Europe to attract some of these players, the only realistic targets i could see would be Elmander (good target man) Upson, Reo-coker, Young (i personally don't rate them) Mc eahran is supposedly a hot prospect haven't seen much, but probably cost a few million if it went to a tribunal. one player not on the list is Westwood the Coventry keeper, good option if we off load Mucha, I have seen him a couple of times and he has done well.

Agreed. Can we keep the place free from this stuff until meltseason opens, it will become tiresome soon enough.

It's been done to death and the results are:

1 - We never sign who are discussed.
2 - Peeps get disappointed.
3 - Peeps fume at everyone.

Marveaux is a great player, he's an attacking midfielder, similar to Pienaar.

He has great set piece ability and he's on less than 15k at Rennes and easily affordable for us.
