had bust ups with a couple of team-mates i think, 100% him and Strootman had a punch up in training about his attitude or some such thing.

I'd hazzard a guess it'd not be a pleasant relationship with Tosun given the Greeks and Turks don't exactly get on too well...

More a case of this is the calibre of player we should be targeting and getting, we stick with the likes of Jones/Smalling etc then ultimately it'll catch up with you sooner or later - most teams that get caught in a downward spiral having been in the league a long time go down that route more often than not.

Sure he had a do with Dzeko too so that's Besic putting him on his arse at the door.

Yeh which was the point I was trying to make to... whomever replied to me haha, Jones might be okay but let's aim a little higher please.

..it’s a really good point about recruiting players who still have a hunger to succeed. Back in the day, I think it was Kendall who said “I’m not looking for £1m players, i’m looking for footballers who want to be £1m players”.

I do think, though, that you have to be careful with certain ‘rejects’. For example, a player who moves to Man City for major money and then sits on the bench for a couple of seasons can often lose that hunger for the game because they’re in a comfort zone. A proper DoF will know the players with the right attitude.

Take Schneiderlin, seemed like a player who would still have a hunger etc, look into it a bit more after the event, a big selling point form us was that his then gf/now wife was wanting to stay in Manchester etc, when a player chooses a main reason to go the club is the comfort of not having to move, stay local, and ultimately make life a bit easier for his family, then strange though it sounds it probably reflects that he hasn't got the hunger you'd want in a player anymore.

Would a 22 year old Schneiderlin be arsed about choosing a club for that reason for example? or would he be looking to find a club/country that would progress his career best.

age isn't the only thing that dulls that though, look at Milner or Barry - both i would describe as being massively hungry players when they both left city, because thats the nature of them.

as you said a proper and good DoF should know these things about the players personality, and arguably should kind of have a clue about whats going on in their life and if the footy has kind of taken on a back seat to life as it where...

Take Shaw for example, not one of us could say honestly if he'd be a great buy or an absolutely woeful one, because ultimately the skill is there, the potential is there, and if he leaves United with a point to prove to those writing him off, he could be brilliant, but it could turn out that Mourinho is 100% right and he doesn't have the right attitude and the player himself knows it and just wants to go somewhere with less pressure, no expectation in comparison and pick-up a pay check.

Key thing in clubs that progress or regress is getting those choices right, and something that the bloke who was at Sevila and is now at Roma - Monchi - has seemed to make very shrewd decisions on players in the past/present - Banega being a classic example of getting it right.

Not gonna say never sign a 'reject' - just make sure the ones you do are ones that have the potential at least to be good enough for where you want to be as a club.

Jones screams out 'best of the rest' or 'prem experience' etc as a signing

i like Manolas a lot, thats the calibre we need, in reality what we need to be doing though is getting the likes of that player 'before' they made that move to Roma for example, but that requires a good scouting network and a good DoF etc.

I saw Jones play not so long back against one of the bigger teams, maybe Spurs, and he was absolutely shocking. Went to clear a ball with opposite foot you logically would and almost pinged an OG into the top corner. He is gash.

Trying to remember if it was Moyes last game at United when we beat them and Jones done a diving save about 15 yards from the goal, utterly mental and sums up what a utter melt he is.

We dont. In the last 2 windows, off the top of my head, we have bought players from Turkey, Holland, Spain, Manchester, Burnley and London.

Plus wherever Henry came from. Plus loads I nave forgotten.

That said, Jones? No thanks.

Think the more pertinent question is why are foreign purchases nearly to the last one turn out to be not just poor, but absolutely shocking and hardly kick a ball for us.

If we where 'actually' willing to pay 50+m for Koulibaly
As we did pay something like 25m for Keane with one year left on his contract
IF we are willing to offer Wilshere 130k+ per week and a 8m signing fee.

Manolas is available for 30-35m on a buy out - he's had problems and isn't the most popular member of the squad so wouldn't exactly cause a massive upset to them if they did sell, he's prime age, one of the top cb's going, and has everything we lack in our cb's in pace, aggression, good in the air and can pass a ball more than 5 yards. and his contract we could double without breaking any wage structure we have.

For a club that can payb 45m for a player (sigurdsson), can pay 150k pw for others (Rooney), you could get a top class player for considerably less than both the fee and wages we have shown we can pay.

Does strike you that Everton have two lists though, one is players who we have zero chance of getting like Koulibaly etc (because they are on the list of the very very top teams financially), then the other is the ones we can get because no one better would want them, and everything in between is ignored.
You forgot the "Crud that United want to get rid of" list.

At least scouts were sent this time on shaw and not the old, let's watch 3 YouTube videos and look at his stats on Wikipedia trick.
