Where are you in Belgium, by the way? I was in Ghent last weekend. Beautiful place.

Not in Belgium mate, just an inside joke, as I get called a Belg or German all the time. That's the reason for my location and my signature. Living in Holland really. Ghent is a nice place though, agree on that.

Had the pleasure of drinking with a few London based Blues on a couple of occasions. Top guys really.

Ah, got yer! Give us a shout if you're ever in London. Always a pleasure to have a pint with a fellow Blue, especially in a city seemingly full of glory-hunting cockney reds (of the kopite and Man U variety).

I di once get chased by a gang load of Millwall fans while walking in Brighton. I do hope you have never had that experience.

You're reminding me of that time in the early 80's when we were away to Newport in the third round of the Cup. Cardiff were playing host to Millwall but the game was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch and so a load of both sets of fans bowled over to Newport and shared the away end with us Evertonians. Two police cordons separating us at one point. That was a tense match, and I don't just mean because we were losing until late on. Nasty gets, both sets of fans.

Siem De Jong, i would crawl over broken glass to get to sign for Everton.

Just wondering if this guy might be worth closer inspection? He plays on either wing for Ajax. He was named the best young talent in the country last year. He's best known for running the length of the pitch against Juventus in the Champions League to score a solo goal. He's only 21. His strike record for Heerenveen was slightly less than 1 in 2. For Ajax it's about 1 in 4. He's also lightening quick.

Ajax signed him for 16.25m euros (£13.5m), but after a disappointing campaign, they've said that they'll let him go for considerably less. We've reportedly been linked with him in the past.

HAVE heard of him .

HAVE NOT heard anything ABOUT him , as it were .

Bit more about this guy coming to us reported in a few sites, supposedly us and Wolfsburg are after him on a free (pre-contract) in january

Is it just me or does "one of the brightest talents in Dutch football" rarely amount to anything nowadays?

It's been the best part of a decade since the likes of VDV, Sneijder, RVP, Huntelaar, Kuyt & Heitinga broke on to the scene, no wonder they've won sod all in ages.
