Study into female footballers & ACL injuries.

Who’d have thought it, women have measurably poorer adaptations than men for doing physical bloke stuff.

Let’s make sure we get a study of why men’s breasts are less able than women’s to produce milk for offspring after this.

Was chatting to a female climber, 'pinking and shrinking' they call it. Companies essentially make smaller sports equipment in feminine colours to market to woman that are still ergonomically designed for men rather than women
There’s a book on this somewhere but things like car seats are designed around men and is why you often see women sitting so close to the steering wheel/air bags and is a reason they’re more likely to be injured in crashes.

Madness in this day and age!

This was an interesting theory

I have an inkling that this may partly be correct, because until recently the differences between male and academy setups were night and day.

There is still a disparity compared to the resources allocated, although it is closing, so the filtration (so to speak) combined with training could play a part.

Could it also be the changing style of the women's game, with it becoming quicker and requiring more periods of acceleration and dynamic movements?

Generally men are bigger and stronger adapted for hunting. Hunting isn't a game or sport, its life or death. The ones that were weak got killed and didn't pass on genes, so only the stronger ones in a pack did it.

Generally women are more nimble with smaller hands for fine work - we learned to make clothes to keep us warm as we adapted to cooler environments, and gathering berries etc.

But some feminists like to ignore facts evolution and science- so we are all apparently the same and women are just as capable as men at everything as shown by the fact that modern wonen regularly beat up men in Hollywood movies and are always in charge.

This is an absolute tier 1 classic Chrismpw post, thank you for this late Christmas gift

But its also completely true, why not except we built completely different instead of patronising us
People struggle to accept what their eyes see, sometimes, because they have been conditioned to. Sutomatically if ypu mention the differences between men and women today you, people see that as a negative and you are a misogynist for seeing it. Its incredible!

Built differently is right. Physiologically differently controlled by hormones and wired differently too. Saying this is fact, not derogatory to either sex.

Perhaps the acl issue is because women, built differently, are trying more to play the game in the same way they see men playing it, rather than their own way. Blame the coaches.

It will be interesting to see the findings. Could be basic biological/bio-mechanical factors, kit (see Liv bikes, an offshoot of Giant who design their bikes to be more suited to Women and Girls), or even potentially training, recovery, and injury management.

There's far more resource in the top tier of mens game comparatively. I believe such injuries are far more common the lower down the pyramid you go in men's footie.

My guess is it'll be a complex picture. But mostly because women are dainty and built for holding babies and washing up and men are basically dynamic athletes, without exception. @Littlesue @chrismpw

But it's not the proven sole reason that women footballers are suffering such a higher rate of ACL injuries. If it was solely physical evolutionary differences then they'd be going left, right and centre as I'd imagine most women's legs are built pretty much the same.

I think the reasons may be somewhere between physical differences and the video @NeroCeasar posted.

The relatively immediate shift into high intensity professionalism and immediate need for high skilled professionals outpacing the establishment of the natural weeding out process that academy and youth football provides. Combined with physical differences it maybe exacerbates the issue.

As you drop down the levels in the men's game the incidence of ACL injuries increases so it isn't a solely biological reason. There are possible outside influencing factors.

That's it. I think I heard something about this on one of the blue room spots with the Everton Ladies being interviewed.

Especially with how much growth the game has had I imagine there's a lot of work to be done on that front when they've just made minor changes and reaped in profits.

Yeah my girlfriend got some PPE for work, and the steel toe cap shoes were horrendous. Bright pink and didn't fit at all

This is deliberate misreading as bait.
