Strangest Player We Were Meant To Sign

Think some Brazilian lad had a 2 game trial at Goodison about 50 years ago - scored in the first one as well. Nothing came of it though. Think he was called Pele.

Moyes was pretty serious with a bid for Michael Essien IIRC, from Bastia in ligue 1.

Not particularly strange I guess, just a shame that we missed out on someone who went on to be genuine world class [Essien absolutely ruled the midfield for a few years at Chelsea].

Tried to sign him and Peter Cech in his first summer.

Yarmalemko, Banega, Manny Fernandes to name but just a few; our boardroom walls must have heard some tales that would sound unbelievable if they were ever heard.

On the flip side we got John Spencer, Mark Hughes & John Oster over the line so we can't be all that bad eh? Just strange.

15th September 1994 was a day to forget for Evertonians

Waking up on 15th September 2017 wasn't any better either..

Leroy Fer, Vadis Odijda Ofoe...

Billy Bremner and Kenny Dalglish (as a young player) allegedly - in the Ones that got away Category.

Mustafi goes under the Why did we bother if we weren't going to play him Category

Per K (as in Perr-que?) and Niasse in the Whose smart Idea was this.. probably squeeze in James Beattie and Jeffers/McFadden loans as well.

Any remember a guy called Finn Tricker?

Came over on trail in the 70's, I think.

3 stone overweight and utter rubbish apparently, straight from Bellfield to Liverpool airport for the next flight back to Scandinavia.

Who arranged this Thin Frucker - Was it an Irish Mr Spooner?

I bet we'd have given Ali Dia a 2 year contract as well if his "cousin" had phoned Mike Walker.
