Given that we're all going to be homeless and living in a world similar to Mad Max by the end of the month doesn't mean we can't at least have some fun with it.

So does anyone want to take bets when the American Stock market loses 10% (or 5% not sure) and shuts down today?

I'm saying 9:35AM Eastern time.

Prediction: By the end of the week Moyes uses whats left of the transfer kitty to snap up the entire US ecomony.

Will be be a good time to look to buy a house next year? - Or is it wise to hold of?

That is the question I have been trying to decipher from the news.

Hold off unless something drastic happens. There is no way that prices are going to rise nationally for some time. Experts now say a drop of 25% from the height of the boom. I think so far prices have dropped just 10%.

Then again, buy a house in Denmark where you get loads for your money (pity everything else is twice the price of the UK, though).

I'm amazed right now at just how tits up the US economy is. The likes of Lehman Bros, Merril Lynch and Bear Stearns were bellwethers of the banking industry, and they're all gone. Incredible. Add in Fannie and Freddy and it's all incredibly messy.

quite a few of the lending houses aren't predicting the housing market will bottom out until Q2 2010. However, you do tend to see a reasonably vigourous bounce after a reccession, so if you jump in about Jan / Feb 2010, you should give yourself time to find something you want without missing the market.*

*the fact that I try to sound like I know what I'm talking about in no way implies that I actually do.Your home may be at even greater risk if you follow my advice, and it would be your own stupid fault.Pineapple on pizza is bad.

Well I guess we all survived. I wonder if Man Utd will come out with jerseys plastered with AIG's new motto "Will work for food".
