Sticking up for us in the media

I think we get too drawn in, outside of the Sky favourites most clubs get overlooked, it's just the way it is now.

Listening today to Talkcack and Stuart Pearce was musing over why Koeman has gone to Everton chatting with that towering intellect, Alan Brazil. He concluded that the best we could achieve is 7/8th, behind Liverpool, MU, MCFC, Arse, Spuds, Milwall, no mention whatsoever of Leicester!

They've all doffed their caps at Leicester but consider that the universe will return to normal soon, with equilibrium restored, best to ignore them because that is the only way.
Given how much of their team they are probably going to lose. They're probably right about Leicester. I doubt the owner has any intention of paying champions league wages or fees and he's probably right.

Has anyone else also noticed how the goalposts are moved when debating whether or not we're a worthy club? If it's them lot, then history is the all important factor. If it's fanbase, clubs like Newcastle get bigged up for their huge and passionate support. We were ridiculed for ages for being poor, and now we've got some money, we're being accused of having no class by other fans and just aimlessly throwing money about to try and get success. We can't win, but i'm enjoying how angry people are getting about it all.

We have to change this mentality that were also rans and it looks like we're taking a step in the right direction. One of the first steps to putting things right is going to those grounds where we've struggled in the past 20 years and get some wins. Stamford Bridge, The Emirates/Arsenal away, Old Trafford and Anfield. Our record at White Hart Lane and the Etihad has gone poor again too. We can't blame the media for not taking us seriously at present when we can't win at any of those grounds. We must have the lowest number of wins at them grounds out of nearly all the sides in the league who've been in it for over 4/5 seasons.

It's pretty obvious that other clubs are jealous now we have the money to try and compete again. They have always been able to pat us on the head and say all we have is history, but now we have the chance to get back to where we should be with Moshiri willing to spend. It will take time though and i'm happy for us to see steady progress over the next few years but top 6 finishes and a trophy win is the least I expect in the next few years.

Relationships with the press are a two way process. In an era just gone where we had little that was obviously attractive to mainstream media we made very little investment or effort in media relationships.

The quality of our output and reach out to the media has been extremely poor in terms of strategy and personnel.

Looking forward we should be a much more attractive proposition, however that can be improved upon by the club engaging properly with media and building the appropriate narrative.

That should not be lost on Moshiri and incoming board members.

I love the ambition that you believe the club has, but I'm worried that your expectations are a little too unrealistic.

The media is either dominated by Kopites, Mancs, or southerners. And sometimes both. But even though they are paid to write their articles. They really haven't got a clue about other clubs unless they finish in the top 4. The amount of articles I've read about Stones, like he was some defensive stalwart to our season. Even though he was dropped. Means that all they do is parrot each other. And like the saying goes "You repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth".

Just read the start of this article for example:

MERSEYSIDE giants Liverpool spent most of last summer acquiring half of Southampton’s playing staff – and now Merseyside minnows Everton are poised to nab their manager.

Like WTF is that about?

I thought linking the Mirror was a big no no on here?, not that it matters like, as there is only one place for that drivel to go anyway...

Exactly another deluded warped idiot how's he even a journo!

Media peeps and journalists enjoy when they get to kick us into the nuts. It happends constantly. One story out of a hundred is positive. Kopites on the other hand get all kinds of lickings from rags and online sites. It's sickening.

Balaques tweet was refreshing. Atleast he knows something.
