Sticking up for us in the media

It's clear the media are dominated by south of England journalists.

Their football knowledge is limited to south of England things.

This is just a taste of things to come if there is Brexit.

No wonder the Scots wanted to get off.

Only says what the media already knew but chose to ignore before Moshiri...Why? because it was only Everton and who cared
but the new regime is making them care, maybe not too much yet, but we're starting to trickle into the narrative...for now, we have to keep the 'new us' moving forward with actions that will make a new modern history to complement the old history.

Moshiri dont care.

He will just smile at them from our new waterside castle.

Relationships with the press are a two way process. In an era just gone where we had little that was obviously attractive to mainstream media we made very little investment or effort in media relationships.

The quality of our output and reach out to the media has been extremely poor in terms of strategy and personnel.

Looking forward we should be a much more attractive proposition, however that can be improved upon by the club engaging properly with media and building the appropriate narrative.

That should not be lost on Moshiri and incoming board members.

Collin Murray isn't bad, although it is possible he's trying too hard because he really hates us.

Paul Hawksbee clearly has friends who are Evertonians so seems to give us a fair press.

Rest of Talksport outside of Collymore couldn't give a toss.

Murray actually isn't bad at all. He's a kopite, so of course it's all relative, but he is actually one of the only presenters acutely aware of how big the club is or at least that it should be achieving more.

Collymore is okay. And tbf, that's probably due to him being a Villa fan - another massive club now forgotten about and ultimately, slipping into the mire.

Spot on on the southern-based media.

Sad fact: the Guardian have one full-time staff reporter based outside of London (that is Helen Pidd, in Manchester - the 'Northern Correspondent')

The Telegraph, Express etc etc, have none. Their 'name' reporters - Sam Wallace, Paul Joyce etc - live further afield, but are the roaming reporters and never in their respective offices anyway - simply working from home/wherever the sport is.

However, don't get how that links to Brexit, though suppose that's for a different thread...

The one good thing about Martinez was that he bigged us up in the media. It just goes to show that it achieved absolutely Sweet FA. The talking has to be done on the pitch. Nobody is bothered that we were finishing 5th and sixth just three or four years ago, and they are much less bothered by the fact that we won a few trophies over 30 years ago.
It woke the fans up.

James Beattie on the radio earlier asked the question of whether Everton was a step up from Southampton...

"Historically both clubs are similar"

W.T.F

IMO shows that our history truly was brushed under the carpet during the Moyes tenure.
