Steven Pienaar

Watching that video it's easy to forget how much some of today's "stars" actually care and appreciate what professional football has done for them and their families....

Sometimes Pienaar's antics on the field seem at odds with his religious beliefs, but I have a new found respect for him having watched that video.

I think he was doing well before his transfer but a big mistake to bring him back.
Can't agree. He's played some fantastic games in his second spell. And he'd have given us something against Palace this week that was missing ie link up play down the left flank.

I respect Pienaar for coming back, I'm sure that he could've gone elsewhere after Tottenham but he came back. He took a massive bite out of humble pie and I imagine he's probably one of the players most devoted to the club.

Still a very useful player and I think worth another season. But I admit he's not the player he was.

Pienaar is a bit like Samson. He lost his strength when he got his hair cut.

Steven Pienaar insists he has no plans to leave Everton as he focuses on keeping fit to retain his place at the heart of Roberto Martinez’s plans.

The South Africa international is currently in his native country for the annual Steven Pienaar Community Tournament, focused on developing local emerging talent.

During the 2013/14 campaign, Pienaar featured in 23 of Everton’s 38 Premier League matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists as the Toffees climbed up to fifth in Martinez’s first season.

While the majority of his club-mates are out in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup, Pienaar is busy setting his targets for the new season, which will see Everton face newly-promoted Leicester City on the opening day.

“I’m definitely staying,” Pienaar, who anticipates no summer transfer activity, told Sport24. “My goals are to stay fit and feature in as many games as possible.”

When quizzed over a return to his home country, Pienaar, who started his career at Ajax Cape Town, said: “It’s not something that I have really thought about, so I will see what the future holds.”

Reflecting on the previous Premier League campaign, Pienaar admits he was shocked to see former Goodison Park manager David Moyes sacked by Manchester United after less than a season in charge.

“I was very surprised,” he added. “He needed more time to implement his ideas.

“It’s the nature of the game these days, there is little time for managers at football teams now, they have to hit the ground running.”

I still think Pienaar behind the striker is a much better option than Osman.

If say both Barkley and Naismith are injured;

Yer, Stevie P should be here for a few more season's yet. Last season was a little mixed but he's still got it in him. That goal he scored against Hull to grasp those three points spring to mind, class goal. His experience will be vital in Europe.

When pienaar is playing well Everton are a much better side. I would love to see him as part of an interchanging front four.

Slightly surprised as he sounded really homesick a few times last season.

But glad he is staying, he is aging a bit now but still is one our better players at unlocking a tight defence and he brings out the best in Baines.
