Steven Pienaar

I'm a big fan of Pienaar but I actually think we are playing better without him. We seem more dangerous when hes not in the side and more fluid in attack. I think its a similar situation to the Mourinho situation with Juan Mata when he was there. Everyone thought surely this guy is one of the best in their team, why is he left on the bench. But when fitting a player into the 4-2-3-1 system, sometimes you need players who are more direct.

At the rate we're going now, Pienaar will have to win his place back in the starting 11. Right now, he's a squad player on the outside looking in.

That said, he's still a valuable member of the squad who can fill in when needed, especially as injuries take their toll on other players.

That is the great thing tho Bill, the majority of our forwards are squad players. No one is guaranteed a starting place.

Agreed.

Under Moyes, you could have had four poor matches in a row and you were guaranteed to be playing in the next game.

With Martinez, you need to keep your form and contribution up if you expect to play. Part of that is that we have a bit more to choose from in terms of squad depth but a lot of that is also on RM.

Have to say he has been good for us at times in the past but currently cannot see any place for him even as a sub. Next season could be Oviedo will feature more in Pienaar's position.

If Osman can start then pienaar can. I think pienaar would be better in the centre number 10. Still quality player to have. Clever and technical I say keep him !
