Appreciate your point, but in literally every transfer window Koeman has been public about what he wants and we've not delivered.

What is the role of a Director of Football at Everton? When he's pictured roaming around Italy - what is he doing?

Perhaps on transfers - we have too many involved/deferred responsibility.

this sums up Everton as a football club at the moment.

its pass the buck central.

Hes dropped the ball in each of his 3 windows.

The whole Sissoko farce, Witsel/Mata, LOL, took Ronny calling him out to get the Morgan deal over the line, then the lack of a Striker and the utter Iceland mess.

Fella is probably great at spotting talent, but utterly clueless at getting deals done, I would suggest we demote him to scout and employ somebody who can operate in the 2017 transfer windows.
What makes you think he sits down at a table with a player his agent and his present club
That’s Kenwrights job and as usual he messed up.
He nearly lost us Lukaku because he wouldn’t pay Chelsea the fee , he messed up over Schnederlin , his record speaks for itself
Kenwright needs to be sacked.

The issue seems to be that Walsh's role is not defined and delineated clearly enough.

I think for the DOF role to work correctly he has to sit on the board and the manager is directly accountable to the DOF.

The DOF can have an input for transfers, but the manager has the final say on players joining or leaving the 1st team squad.

With us, I have read that both RK/SW have to "agree" on a target but it simply can't work like that. What happens then is that people compromise to avoid conflict and that is the last thing we need.

There are plenty of things for Walsh to focus on and be effective in concerning the longer term at the club like the academy, sports science, negotiation with players, liaison with the board on football matters etc.

But transfers should be left to the manager. It seems that Walsh has either been told to act as Chief Scout and little else rather than fully encompass what a DOF should be, or he doesn't have the character traits required to embrace what should in theory be a leadership role.
Totally agree with this.

It's all very well saying that Walsh and Koeman 'have to agree' before we sign someone, but what does that actually involve? Do they have to agree 100%, as in they're both in total agreement about all of the pros and cons of signing someone, and exactly what we will be getting? Or is it a case that they just don't have to not be in total disagreement, so if one of them rates a player as 10/10 and the other rates them as 6/10 that goes down as them agreeing? Or is it a case that one of them goes in and says 'I've found an absolute gem I think we need to get' and the other says 'if you rate him that highly then let's do it' without even seeing them.

Kenwright has made the club into something to be proud of in terms of the community. We go above and beyond the call of duty to help people and it is something that we as fans should be massively, massively proud of.

But hey, because he "messed up" over two players (who we actually did sign) lets sack him!

There is more to Everton than just on the pitch. It's something we should all remember.

Very very fortunate to be still in a job tbh, last summers recruitment was underwhelming with a cringingly desperate deadline day. This year there seemed to be little foresight or strategy and the failure to land a centre forward was unforgivable. Another shambolic deadline day followed.

Amazingly, the squad looks in need of an overhaul, it's too big and unbalanced. Not good at all given the figure spent.

Wayne Rooney - England and Manchester United's all time record goalscorer.
Sandro Ramirez - 15 goals in La Liga last season
Henry Onyekuru - Supposedly a hot prospect. Scored for fun in the Belgian League last season

To say we didn't sign a striker is just not true. We did. The only problem is Koeman didn't get the one he wanted (Giroud I would assume) so instead he plays like we did sign him instead of adapting to what he has got and finding a system for them that works.

I guess a lot depends on what role Mr Walsh has (and although people like to pretend they do, lets face it, they don't.) If his task is to sign up young prospects then he is doing well. If his job is just to sign first team players then obviously he is doing badly. On the surface of it though many of our first team signings look like Koeman players. But again I am just summizing there.

It was very clear we needed a number 9. Rooney drops so deep he's barely an attacking midfielder, Sandro isn't an orthodox number 9 and was clearly struggling long before deadline day, and Onyekuru isn't much use this season.
The failure to sign a centre forward was a massive and self evident mistake.

Fair enough but I just keep reading that we didn't sign a striker when we actually signed 3!

We needed a number 9 because that's what Koeman had in mind. We didn't get him (probably because his small list of options didn't want to come here) so we did without. I totally understand that too, the further you get down the list the less likely they are to have any impact.

What is a massive and self evident mistake is then going into games setting up like we had this elusive striker and not coming up with a plan whilst using the players he had at his disposal.

Surprised he’s being so heavily criticised. Always thought it was strange you took him as DOF to be honest. His strengths are definitely his ability to scout under the radar talent

I think we would have promised him ten games up front if he'd asked. Not sure he's suited to DOF.

Still can't fathom out why he couldn't identify a striker since last march, when he knew lukaku was on his way. Arguably his most significant business this summer that is having the biggest impact on the side, is not replacing him.

He identified at least ten we know about, securing them was the problem Again Bill Kenwright is delighted you are seething at only Walsh and not him.

I agree the club have done great work off the pitch within the community.
However this discussion is on player recruitment and Kenwright has a track record of messing up and leaving signings till the last minute so he can save on wages.
Deadline day Bill needs to go
