Not so true. Drogba wasn't the real deal at Marseille he hadnt achieved much before Chelsea came in for him. Zola was obviously well known across Europe, but again, he was a player that the big clubs disregarded, possibly due to his height and strength.

Yeah won French player of the year during his season at Marseille, and his value increased 8 fold. 'Wasn't the real deal' though. Ok...

Can't call him a judas for leaving. Closer to home for him, more money and job progression. Don't think its anything to do with the size of the clubs or higher calibre of players etc.

Its not like he's a player going for an extra 30k a week, The extra wages are more significant. Good luck to him

You lot are a class club with class fans. Southampton could learn from you. You're not calling him Judas but actually thanking him for what he's done. It should bf done like that.

Whether this is a good appointment depends upon the remit of his role.

If his duties are to (in tandem with the manager ) scout and /or identify potential signings and then be intergral to the negotiations that follow then he sounds like a great appointment.

However if his job description includes overseeing and implentation of all aspects of football at Everton he sounds seriously underqualified.

Stand by it. He wasn't quite the real deal at Marseille, it wasn't until he came to Chelsea until he unleashed his real potential. If he was so great at that stage in his career he'd have been signed up by Barcelona or Madrid.

.....whether it's a good appointment will ultimately depend on the quality/value of the players he brings in and results on the pitch.

YAY SOMETHING HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED!!!

Just goes to show. In this country, first you get the money, then you get the power, then....you get Steve Walsh

Welcome Steve Walsh. Could prove to be a very big signing for us given his history of successful scouting and the commendation of none other than Alex Ferguson.
He doesn't have the glamour of Monchi and is near retirement age but I think he'll work well with Koeman who apparently recommended him.
Hope ol Walshie will bring a list of potential targets and we finally start making progress in what has been an underwhelming transfer window so far.

He picked Moyes to replace him, just saying
