To be honest when everyone was banding round all the big name international players we are SUPPOSED to be linked to it was players like hunt i was expecting our club to go for. i also expect the clubs we will be up aginst for players will be the likes of sunderland, wigan, west brom etc not man city, aston villa etc.

I really hope im wrong!

He's one of my favorite players in the prem. He plays really well against the top 4 and would bring some toughness to our squad. Keane loves him though and Sunderland may enter into a bidding war for his services. He'd be a good addition though. He also plays well against us so it might be good to pick him up for that reason alone.

Hunt (IMO) is the sort of player Everton would have probably gone all out for a couple of seasons ago. He can pop up with the odd goal, is very tough tackling (some would say thuggish) and has a good work rate and engine. Just the sort of player you would think attracts Moyes. But (and this is only my opinion) he would be a step backward for us. We have moved on from the likes of Kilbane (and Hunt is only marginally better). Hunt will attract the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, Bolton etc....but he should not attract us. We do need real quality in midfield, and that is the point I'm trying to make. Real quality. Not a guy who's only real claim to fame is Petr Cech's new head gear.

i can't understand Keane's obsession with hunt, he wants to get rid of wallace, who in my opinion is a faster younger version of hunt, would rather sign wallace for about 2 mill as a squad player rather than hunt for 5

You know thwe more i think about it, the more i can see this a potentially astute signing. Ive seen him play a lot hes a good player not a great player and certainly not in the Ashavein role.

Hes tenacious, committed dedicated and i havnt seen the same kind of engine, desire of fearlessness in him since Roy Keane. Hes not in the same class but hes a good little player particularly as an imapct Sub. One of the things we missed in our decline towards the end of the season is the tenacity, drive, and bite Cahill brings to our play, its almost as if he speeds opur game and tempo up when he plays and sets the tone for the team. Hunt is very similar, he is extreamly effective and its impossible not to like him as a player.

I wouldnt mind if he signed i think he could add to things.

Hunt isn't just a brainless player who has no skills and just gets by with his work rate and physical play. He's underrated as a playmaker. He can beat most defenders one-on-one and he also throws in some sick crosses. He was the best player on Reading and it wasn't his fault that Reading's front line stunk and he didn't have much oppoutunity to go forward and attack.

Is he a No1 priority, no (unless Peanut or Hunt can play RW) but he will provide some quality depth in the squad. We are going to need a player of his quality for the times Cahill, Pinnear, and/or Arteta are hurt/tired. Plus given that Pinnear has seemed to run hot and cold I'm not sure that Pinnear could beat out Hunt at LW.

Remember people, our starting 11 hangs with anyone but Utd (and w/o Ronaldo maybe we do). Its depth that we lack. Getting 4-5 players at say 4-5M each who can come and play almost just as well (or maybe better) when one or more of our players goes down is what killed us. I think getting say Hunt, Bradley and (insert 2 4-6M players here are examples: Huddlestone, Ramsey and Valencia; maybe Kallstrom too not sure what his value is) would improve our team alot more than blowing the transfer kitty on 1 or 2 players.

And its not like we couldn't sell him to Sunderland for what we paid for him if he doesn't work out for us.
