That's just it, I don't think we do want a right back. I also think that if Phil Neville played there all the time and never had to venture into a depleted midfield to play alongside Carsley then we'd see a whole different player to the one who's become the whipping boy this season.

Paul Scharner would be a decent pickup but I believe his happy with the Latics. Neville has to be the #1 RB and never have to grace midfield again even if injuries are common.

yobo , jags , neville , hibbert , gosling and i think irving can all play right back.
i wouldnt sell yobo or jags , gosling and irving are fringe players we know nothing about , which leaves hibbert and neville the only 2 candidates to be replaced. both have lacked in certain aspects to there game but id still say both will be much better to have in the team at the start of next season than stephen carr.
if we are gonna replace both or one of them then please let it be a much younger player and better quality than a clapped out over weight midget from the premier reject bargain bin !
but imo we do need to build on top of what we have in a couple of areas ..

wing .....pienarr/osman
cm .....carsley
im not saying we should sell piennar osman and carsley but we should definatly buy 1 winger and 1 cm of better quality than them who can take there place in the starting lineup.
we do also need a better quality right back but that would mean we would definatly have to sell either hibbert or neville.
add to that list a striker to compete with yak and aj and the team should be nice for next season.

i too agree i dont think we need to go near carr he best is behind him and hes a grumpy little git 
i ve read crouch been mentioned personally i do not wanna see us go near anyone tall as a striker we dont have a " passing" mentality in the squad so it would be pretty painful on the eye to see aerial attact after aerial attack for 40+ games a yr

Personally i would like to see Carr ive watched him for years play for Ireland and he is a quality full back certainly better then what we currently have, hes played at the highest level in World Cups etc and would add a different dimension to our attacking play form full back, with him and Baines on either side we would have our two attacking full backs!
