Stature

I can swear down on my mother's life that this thread wasn't started to spite Brennan. I've barely even interacted with Brennan in this thread. I haven't sworn at the lad, I haven't targetted him, I've done nothing wrong whatsoever.

I can also swear that I'm not angry here either. Confused certainly, but not angry. I understand why people dislike me, I can be a tit admittedly, and I put my hand up when I am.

But I'm not being a tit here. This thread came about because I noticed something in the match thread that I thought warranted discussion in its own thread. Nothing more, nothing less.

Come on we both know different pal. I can link up the evidence if you like?

I am 25 so don't know if that qualifies me. I don't think winning the league cup, would really make us seem like a big club. Do people see Birmginham, or Boro as a bigger club than us? It wouldn't harm us, but in all likelihood, it would not massively benefit us. The fact that the big clubs play reserve sides in it, shows to you, that by taking it seriously, you are showing more of a small club mentality.

We live in an era, where club size is measured by playing in the champions league. the era of "4th place is a trophy" as Wenger said, a man who has won everything worth winning several times. People might not like this, but that is the modern world. People like Dalgliesh saying he won a trophy so had a good season are dinosaurs out of touch with modern football. We might not like the modern game, but you can't deny it's core principles.

I'm not arsed about what 'modern football' deems a 'big club' to mean. I'm arsed about Everton FC winning trophies. We haven't won one in twenty years and the League Cup is one of two trophies every year we actually have a chance of lifting.

That's about all there is to it, really.

We are a big club, we don't need to win a cup to validate that.

We need to win a cup because it's been too long and we should always be aiming to be successful.

Ultimately, I'll remember a cup win forever. Not finishing 5th or 6th.

Like I said last night though, can't blame Martinez too much for wanting to rotate. Other players need a chance, would have preferred we didn't but it looks like we're just going to have to win the FA Cup now instead.

Unfortunately thats not all there is to it. If it was then id be all for throwing our first 11 out every game including all cups

So in one thread you've accused me of deliberately being on a wind up, a bad Evertonian and now you're saying I'd lie when I'm swearing down on my mother's life...

You'll find one post in the match thread where Brennan talks about what defines our stature, and me being absolutely baffled by how a League Cup win would make a jot of difference to it. We disagreed, yes, but if you find something which proves this was spiteful, then go for it. I know for certain I haven't.

The first eleven isn't going to be the same eleven players all season though mate is it? You have to factor in form, injury and formation preferred at that time.

Bearing in mind we have a six day rest until our next game it wasn't the best idea to break up a winning team and make eight changes last night. Easy with hindsight I know but I wasn't too happy with the line up when I seen it then was more disillusioned at our failure to make changes when the game was running away from us, then two defensive players as our first subs.

Mothers life? Come on mate, this isn't the playground. I'll link the posts soon if you like.

I give up peace keeping, gonna go find me a quality, insightful thread to take part in.

Lads, anyone know which page that thread about the mask is?

I've been very amicable about it all mate, just amused at Tubey's stubborness and hang up over being wrong on the internet. It's entertaining.

Isnt that why youve got to have as many match-fit players ready as possible though? Which is my point... i think! haha
