Come on don't push it! But yeah this thread was started to spite you lid, then he's persisted with it but ended up getting angry himself.

I can swear down on my mother's life that this thread wasn't started to spite Brennan. I've barely even interacted with Brennan in this thread. I haven't sworn at the lad, I haven't targetted him, I've done nothing wrong whatsoever.

I can also swear that I'm not angry here either. Confused certainly, but not angry. I understand why people dislike me, I can be a tit admittedly, and I put my hand up when I am.

But I'm not being a tit here. This thread came about because I noticed something in the match thread that I thought warranted discussion in its own thread. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am 25 so don't know if that qualifies me. I don't think winning the league cup, would really make us seem like a big club. Do people see Birmginham, or Boro as a bigger club than us? It wouldn't harm us, but in all likelihood, it would not massively benefit us. The fact that the big clubs play reserve sides in it, shows to you, that by taking it seriously, you are showing more of a small club mentality.

We live in an era, where club size is measured by playing in the champions league. the era of "4th place is a trophy" as Wenger said, a man who has won everything worth winning several times. People might not like this, but that is the modern world. People like Dalgliesh saying he won a trophy so had a good season are dinosaurs out of touch with modern football. We might not like the modern game, but you can't deny it's core principles.

Honestly mate i would just let this go. Its clear you havent had a pop at Brennan in this thread, but your not gonna be able to convince these few peeps that the thread itself wasnt a bit of a dig.

It doesnt matter though mate, misinterpretation is one of the down-sides of forum in that you cant get your point accross by text as you would face to face.

What im saying it lets set up GrandOldTeam - The Live Debate.

First up, Tubey v Brennan, special guess referee - Chico.

When you look at our team last night, we did enough to win. I have no doubt we would have won if jags, Baines and Barry played. On the other hand liverpool played their full strength team against largely uniteds reserve squad, yet still lost. They're next game is on Saturday, ours isn't till Monday, yet we chose to 'rest' players. That's what I can't get my had around. Lets hope it hasn't halted the momentum we had built up.

Good post mate.

For the record, I've only just turned 29, so I'm not this old bugger taking the mick out of young people here! I remember the 1995 win as I was 10/11 at the time and it's imprinted in my head, just as I remember the Wimbledon game clearly from 1994, but I'm too young for the glory days of the 80s.
