Unfortunately thats not all there is to it. If it was then id be all for throwing our first 11 out every game including all cups

It is to me.

Everton winning stuff is all that really matters to me in club football. I watch other teams or big games but i don't really care about the result. I also don't really care what neutral bel end fans think about whether we're a 'big club' or not. Modern football stinks.

So in one thread you've accused me of deliberately being on a wind up, a bad Evertonian and now you're saying I'd lie when I'm swearing down on my mother's life...

You'll find one post in the match thread where Brennan talks about what defines our stature, and me being absolutely baffled by how a League Cup win would make a jot of difference to it. We disagreed, yes, but if you find something which proves this was spiteful, then go for it. I know for certain I haven't.

Not once did i say that us winning the League Cup would make a difference to our stature.

Isnt that why youve got to have as many match-fit players ready as possible though? Which is my point... i think! haha

I just don't feel that keeping squad players match fit for the possibility of injuries is worth sacrificing momentum and results for.

I'm with Chris Evans here. Arsed with anyone else, just want to see Everton win some tin.

It was this part mate:

Our stature of zero trophies in nearly two decades and not even getting into Europe anymore.

That stature ?

I just don't think winning the League Cup is an indication on our overall stature; I found that startling, hence this thread.

But it certainly wasn't started to spite you; I didn't even mention you in the OP and haven't said a bad word to you here.

Okay, by stature, it's implied that it's how we're outwardly percieved by the wider footballing world. Or in essence, what people think about us.

If you're not assed one bit about what other people think about Everton, say I.

No worries lid.

YOU'RE STILL WRONG THOUGH

No not quite that. Not what other people think of Everton, but how you feel about Everton yourself.

So basically the question is would Everton winning the League Cup make you feel, as a fan, that you're somehow supporting a bigger club because of the win.

I understand bluejocks stance above that there's a desire to win a trophy at all costs - but surely there has to be an understanding as to why playing your strongest possible team in this competition all the time isn't necessarily practical from a overall point of view.

Yep, I sympathised with that before:

We are a big club, we don't need to win a cup to validate that.

We need to win a cup because it's been too long and we should always be aiming to be successful.

Ultimately, I'll remember a cup win forever. Not finishing 5th or 6th.

Like I said last night though, can't blame Martinez too much for wanting to rotate. Other players need a chance, would have preferred we didn't but it looks like we're just going to have to win the FA Cup now instead.
