We dont need £905k a week in wages freed up.

May as well sell aquad players.

Rio Ferdinand was a global marketing dream...hugely popular in japan for example where everyone called him LEO.
Check out Spurs wage bill compared to ours we need atleast an extra 500kpw just to afford 3 signings on 120k per week plus contract renewals so selling stones makes sense

So Zat you would rather shift a few squad players on, although exatly how much we'd raise for such players is debatable, especially in terms of us needing to make trading profits on them and the difficulty and time it would take to move on these players alos, which basically will mean we can't buy until we sell - otherwise run a risk of failing the FPP rules which would end in disaster and a fire sale at the last minute

and bring in a couple of new faces - likely not spenidng much more than say 30-40m at an absolute maximum - as we will NOT be able to afford wages above that net spend

or would you rather lose a player who plainly wants out the club, which would enable us to say spend 200m and be able to offer contracts on par with what the 'SKY' clubs can do - and be able to bring in the exact targets 6-7 players that Koeman wants?

How much have we saved from:

Howard
Hibbert
Osman
Pienaar

We can also sell Niasse for at least the upfront fee e.g £5mil and save his wages

Cleverley and Coleman can bring in £25-30mil

Then ditch squad players.

My concern is that the payers we are getting linked with, granted it may just be paper talk, are not worthy of such.

I'd prefer 3 top end stars for that money and a couple of loans if needed to be honest. Just spending all that money for the sake of it is not a rebuild, and certainly not worth the loss of one of our best talents in Stones.

Who are you going to get to pay those high wages mate?

I've mentioned many times we should go all out for James and other top end players. None of the names we are getting linked with at the moment are worthy of that and losing Stones.

Realistically we'll probably spend around £130-140 million this window which will I would imagine include the sales of Stones and maybe a Niasse and/or Cleverly.

For me in that situation we need to sign a GK, CB, CDM, LM, and backup striker. For me the marquee signing should be a top class LM or attacking midfielder who can play out on the left and cut in.

GK: Butland £30 million
CB: ?? £20 million
CDM: Schnerderlin/Witsel: £25 million
ST: Janssen/Pelle/??? £15-20 million

LM/AM: Mata/Draxler £35 million. A dream scenario would be we really wanted to make a statement and went all out and tried getting Rodriguez for £45-50 million imagine the media!

Best estimates Howard (45k) Hibbert (20k) Osman (35k) Pienaar (50k) around 150k their mate

As i have explained we sell Naise for 5m we effectively remove 8m off the wage bill we can then offer due to FPP rules

Now will explain - Barkley is currently on 60k per week, we are apparently offering him 120k per week to sign a new contract
Lukaku is on 75k per week, new contract mentioend as being 140k per week
Stones is on 30k per week, if he stays wand we get him to sign a new contract then he will want parity with barkley - so 120k per week

That is 215k per week we would need to add to the wage bill of the club just to keep existing players, now assuming we offer absolutely no increased deals to anyone else in the squd (which is unblievable really as the likes of Moris' and Deulofeus' agents etc would be straight on the phone wanting a decent pay hike straight away) - then that 215k increase wipes out all we have saved from releasing the 4 players, and 65k of the allowed yearly increase of 135k per week that the rules allows, so we are down to 70k left we can increaee wages by

so we have signed no players - just resigned deals for existing ones, we have let 4 players leave the squad, and we have now 70k per week we can add to the wages mate

we sell Cleverley and coleman for 25m and naisse for 5m, then we have made a player trading profit of about 17m which gives us the ability to increase wages by 320k per week roughly - add that to the 70k remaining and we have the ability to increase the wage bill by 390k per week

We now need a starting right back, we now need a staring keeper, we need a backup striker, we need a winger, and we need a centre midfielder and a playmaker type - just so we arent playing people out of position

so 6 players we can add on an average of around 65k per week, what you think the first agent approached will say when we try to buy his player and he looks at Ross and Stones getting double what his client is being offered?

And all this is assuming we don't have to renogotiate with existing players, a conservative setimate would be we'd end up doing a fair few contracts to Mori and del and others which would eat up apporox 100k of that figure - hell davies and dowell resignign have probably taken around 40k per week out that figure alone mate

Agreed to a sense but say if witsel, strootman, Draxler ect are our top tier targets your looking at 80k plus to attract them imo that's not even including renewals

Rather keep Stones then mate. Losing one of the best young talents in the game for any of those 3 you mention is not for me.

I would rather not loose stones either but if it comes down to either keeping stones or lukaku it's lukaku every day of the week for me proven goal scorers are rare

I hear you. My point is though, losing any of them to create space in a wage structure to spend crazy money on any of those players we have been linked with in the papers is crazy.
You don't sell your best players. And you definitely don't sell them for any run of the mill players that you pay overs for to get.

I'd be expecting at 60m bid for a top end gun like James for losing Stones.
