Just wondering is this move banning gambling companies being shirt sponsors a move by the PL in trying to not encourage gambling or is it cutting off a source of revenue for clubs outside the sly 6? I don`t think any of them have have shirt deals with gambling firms.
I thought the same! No way would this be a thing if Liverpool had a big deal with a bookie.

Stadium naming rights deal could potentially now become a stadium and front of shirt sponsorship.
Exactly, or at least the prospect of being our first sponsor at the new place ought to be worth much more than it currently is. The new owners will hopefully be much more ambitious with any new sponsor; it's a disgrace what we're getting right now - less than a load of teams even get for a sponsor on their training kit ffs.

Completely agree! Here's hoping... It wouldn't surprise me if the sponsor turned out to be one of the companies under their umbrella.

Don't think this makes much difference.

Stake.com - which is what is written on our shirts - is unavailable in the UK, anyway.

As others have said, it'll be gone soon, anyway.

It could do, although maybe having two separate sponsors for the stadium and the shirt could be more lucrative when added together?

Regardless, if we get a top level blue chip sponsor that are similar to what the likes of Chelsea had with 3 mobile, then such revenue would be similar to the prize money that we would receive for qualifying for the Champions League each year for the next three or four seasons, and we could finally bin off our attachment to being the footballing equivalent of Charlie Bucket.

The demise of Stake , like any betting company is to be welcomed .

More relevant for Everton , I'm sure I read that TFG were unhappy with the amount generated by the deal and therefore their removal as sponsors represents a great opportunity for EFC to increase revenue by taking on a far more acceptable corporate shirt sponsor on much better terms.

In fact the chance to tie that in with naming rights of BMD may be irresistible to some.

Perhaps , at last the stars really are aligning for us.

Having said that we don’t know the contract terms. It would be great if the clubs lawyers could argue this constituted breach of contract or a contract we could no longer fulfil within the sponsorship rules and we could play out Goodison’s last few games with sponsorless shirts or EITC on there. I hope they least explore it.
I'd be astonished if there wasn't a good conduct / reputation clause in the contract.

Hopefully there's a way out for Everton of the sponsorship on the back of this and we can get a nice juicy one in time for the summer to further help with PSR.

Are the stars aligning for a great summer?
Sorry mate looks like I've nicked your phrase but I actually hadn't read it when I posted ....great minds and all that

The Government has taken away our shirt sponsorship AND the Current Affairs forum in two days

Dyche would NEVER have allowed this to happen.

Pull your finger out Moyes.
Booooo!
